Botticelli – July 2026

I wouldn’t call comic books “prose”, but…

Over fifty years since I quit reading comic books, so somebody can have mine, too.

I’m not a comics person, but I’ll ask the question I thought of just after asked ng the ones I did this morning

Does the author’s last name begin with A-L?

I get that you can’t play, but I hope you’ll come guess for the illusory bragging rights.

(Good luck with the eye thing).

Are you Fiddler’s Green, the sailors’ paradise who leaves the Dreaming and takes the form of a person to visit the waking world in The Sandman?

Yes!! I am Fiddler’s Green! I am the personification of a lush meadow from the graphic novels of The Sandman.

I have also appeared in the guise of “Gilbert” when dealing with humans. Stephen Fry portrayed me in the TV series.

Good job, DLR (and a nod to Prof P for guessing correctly as well).

Ok, I have heard of the Sandman, but would not have known enough about it to guess anything.

Good for those of you who did recognize it.

Yeah. What he said. I’ve heard of the place, but never as a person.

(And I wouldn’t know Stephen Fry if he came up and bit me on the ankle, though there’s a slight chance that I might recognise Hugh Laurie.)
