Hmmmm. What kind of dog am I? What colour? In what way am I associated with the Arts? Any particular art? Why did I become famous?
DQ: Are you the titular canine in Steinbeck’s Travels with Charley?
Also a very good guess.
DQs:
Owned by a famous person?
Know for a single incident?
One DQ reserved.
I recall SCA mentioning a series of books about a family of dogs sometime back. One was known as the Black, and his son was the Red, etc. This might be one of those.
Yes! I am Mrs Steinbeck’s poodle, Charley.
Your turn in the barrel, Prof!
Ah, Charley. ![]()
My best guesses after Checkers were Balto or Laika.
Does a trip around the coterminous 48 count as a single incident?
Congrats, Prof.!
IQs:
1. Were you a jazz bandleader who never slept and came from Saturn?
2. Did Barack Obama appoint you to the Supreme Court?
3. Were you an SNL Weekend Update character who invariably recommended New York’s hottest club?
Charley - brilliant! After Checkers, I was trying to remember the name of Roosevelt’s dog (eventually I remembered - Fala) and I also thought about Captain Holt’s dog on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Cheddar - but of course that’s fictional. Good show, Prof!
On to S:
1-2. Were you Secretary of War during the American Civil War?
3. Did you drive your car into a pond three times?
Wow, good job, Prof. P., and then an even better job, DLR!
Aw man, now I have to look over the list of Letters We’ve Used So Far again.
