Botticelli - May 2014

  1. Klaatu, alien visitor played by Michael Rennie in the sci-fi classic The Day The Earth Stood Still, and by Keanu Reeves in the not-so-classic remake.
  2. Allen Klein, scumbag and former manager of The Rolling Stones and The Beatles. After swindling the Stones out the publishing rights to their pre-1970 material (AKA the good stuff), he licensed a sample of an orchestral version of “The Last Time” to The Verve for their 90s hit “Bittersweet Symphony”. After the song became a hit, he claimed they sampled more than they should have, sued to get a Jagger/Richards cowriting credit, and settled for 100% of the royalties from the song. He then licensed the Verve’s song to Nike to pocket even more money.
