Botticelli - November 2017

  1. I am not Gabby Hayes.
  2. I am not Hoot Gibson.
  3. I am not James Garner.

Haha, it was Bandaranaike I was going for for IQ1 - I was a bit hazy on the spelling, didn’t realise I was that hazy though! Also, Indira Gandhi was the answer to IQ3, so I think you get credit for that one. Just one DQ, for Garfield (Sheldon says something like “I mean, he’s a cat, he doesn’t have a job, what’s it to him whether it’s Monday or not?”).

As we are at the last DQ, and I can’t think of anyone who fits the criteria, I’ll leave it to Elendil’s Heir who still has one in reserve.

Oh, go ahead and guess. At the end of game we often allow more than 20 questions if they’ve already been earned.

IQ1: Are you the lead singer of the band <ahem> No Doubt?
IQ2: Are you a Jamaican recording artist who starred as Zula in Conan the Destroyer?
IQ3: Are you the female vocalist/guitarist for the band Sonic Youth?

  1. I am not Gwen Stefani.
  1. I am not Grace Jones.
    Take a DQ for #3.

Kim Gorman

holding a DQ

I’m stumped. I yield my earned DQ to whoever would like to ask it.

Eh, no one bit, so I’ll use it after all.

Re-reading her bio, I realize she was associated with New York City. As this may have affected later questions, I feel the need to add a hint:

  1. Has a connection to Star Trek.

Everyone else who has a DQ may ask it until 6pm EST today, then I’ll ask for the FirstName LastName questions if it’s still unsolved.

Let’s have the FirstName LastName questions now.

I’m stumped. I was thinking she might be a famous mistress, but DQ 20 seems to indicate otherwise. The Star Trek clue brings to mind Joan Collins playing Edith Keeler, but that’s not it. I pass.

You have until 6pm EST, when I’ll reveal my name.

I’m out too - I doubt I have heard of this person, I can’t think of a sensible guess I’m afraid.

Not to criticise anyone, but is there a house rule for how famous people need to be? I assume the standard is a bit higher than the original reason for the name of the game, but of course it’s all very subjective. One possible option would be that if none of the players involved in the round has heard of the person, play passes to the next player, but as long as at least one of them has heard of them, the setter gets to go again. On the honour system of course, just like the “no research” rule.

The house rule is: somebody else playing has to have heard of him or her.

If no one has, the round’s declared null, and whoever hosted before this round takes over. If someone has, then the host goes again.

Hello, Suckers! I am **Texas Guinan **, flamboyant owner and hostess of New York’s speakeasy, the 300 Club. (and the source of Whoopi Goldberg’s character’s name and occupation on ST:TNG.)

Wikipedia: Texas Guinan - Wikipedia

Has anyone heard of me?

Yes, I have, from the early publicity of Whoopi’s first appearance on ST:TNG. Good one, Prof. P.

Huh. Didn’t know she actually existed. Despite not knowing about her, this was a fun round.

Ah, good. So, on to H!

Well played, no objections here.

IQ1: Was your most famous line in (arguably) your second most-famous role an ad lib?
IQ2: Did you have a grandson who had a product made by your family business named after him, which is still known as a famous flop?
IQ3: Were you a Welsh composer probably most famous for writing the tune to “Jerusalem”?

  1. Take a DQ.
  2. I am not Henry Ford. (Take a DQ if I’ve guessed wrong.)
  3. I don’t remember Parry’s first name. Take a DQ.
