And that’s it for the IQs and DQs, time to make your final guesses. Answer will be posted sometime in the late afternoon/early evening.

Zilla? Zola? Zuleika? Zosima? I’m not coming up with a good answer. Or any answer…

Yeah, I’m stumped, too. Georgia O’Keeffe is the only female American painter I can think of from around that time.

Still nothin’.

Exactly my thought, as well. Hell, I could only think of Andrew Wyeth, Edward Hopper, and Grant Wood, among the men. Guess I’m just an uncultured yahoo.

Well, there’s Clarice Cliff (pottery), Kathe Kollwitz (German printmaker), Frida Kahlo (Mexican), Lee Krasner (abstract expressionist) and a bunch more regional artists from Indiana I know, but none fit the bill.

I’ll give you an extra hint, expand your guesses beyond art museums.

Hmm, guys, so maybe an illustrator or muralist? (That’s not a DQ, by the way.)

Still no idea.

Illustrator is a good guess, but I still dunno.

And the answer is…

Zoe Mozert

One of the most popular pinup artists of the of the 40s and 50s, part of “the big four” which also included Rolf Armstrong, Earl Moran and Gil Elvgren.

Oh, yeah, Bubbles. I haven’t thought about her for over a decade, but I do know her. Good one, atimnie.

I should make the next one easier to guess, this is too much like work.

Okay, have to confess, never heard of her. Cf. “uncultured yahoo” post.

Never heard of her either (nor any of the others of the “big four,” for that matter). For more:

Next: I am Z

Yes, again. I think you’ll get this one.

Ugh, again?
