I love No Reservations and caught that last night. I could pass up the raw chicken though, I think that bothered me more than almost anything he’s eaten thus far (except maybe the poop-steamed warthog head LOL).
It was beautifully done- I liked his Saudi Arabia show as well.
I’ll catch the Tokyo one tonight, when I can Tivo through the commercials. I’m glad he filmed another Japan trip - those are always my favorite episodes of his.
I also liked the Saudi Arabia show. The people there looked nice, but it may have something to do with his hanging out with well-to-do folks.
Yeah, I think he’s best when he drops the macho snark and is just natural. I read a food blog as written by a Hawaiian, and he detailed last year’s episode wherein Tony visited Hawaii and decided he loved the food there. The blogger was present at one of the little local joints when Tony was there, and reported that Tony was very low-key, pleasant and self-effacing. But when the cameras went on, he ramped up the testosterone-fueled snidery. I guess that’s what most viewers want, though.
The other one that was really, really good was the one he did on the Southwest, especially Texas. After alot of eye rolling (his), he got down with Ted Nugent and it was sharp and hilarious.
