And shagging scantily clad green women. Don’t forget the scantily clad green women.
Couldn’t have said it any better. James T. Kirk was my boyhood hero.
Until I’m asked to personally produce the next series, I’ll stick to the repeats, thanks.
The Way to Eden.
Spock’s Brain.
Plato’s Stepchildren.
Mark of Gideon.
Is There in Truth No Beauty?
The Lights of Zetar.
The Empath.
And the Children Shall Lead.
Agreed.
Did you see the extended trailer that played before The Hobbit? I don’t think it is close to being too serious.
I liked it better when it was called Galaxy Quest.
Stranger
I liked the Star Trek reboot, and I grew up with TOS, watched on the original first air dates!! Including the Kirk-Uhura kiss. So there.
And I met Nimoy in a small airport restaurant once, and he was very nice.
[sub]now where was I going with this?[/sub]
Are these supposed to be good episodes or bad? Anyway, neither way does it show that 2009’s movie was* infinitely worse* than *anything *from the 3rd season.
Carry on; I’m pretty sure I’d hate what you produced at least as much as you hate the ‘new’ stuff.
Honestly? I had a ton of fun with the last film, and while I’m concerned with what seems to be a darker tone in the next one (The previous film was not what I’d have called dark, really.) that won’t stop me from seeing it.
I probably liked it because I have no preconceptions or attachments to old Trek. Actually, that’s a lie, I found most of what I saw of it kinda painful and only entertaining when viewed as camp.
I’ve never seen the first one even though I’m a big Star Trek Fan. I’m just not in the market for new Kirks and Spocks.
But seriously, have you never seen a Michael Bay film?
You’ve convinced me.
The trailers are always serious, because that’s what fills theaters. The first movie had a serious trailers, but it also had green aliens in underwear, Kirk with a numb tongue, Chekov unable to pronounce V’s, and Scotty getting sucked through a tube of coolant. Among other things. So I don’t expect this movie to be super serious the whole way through.
I opened this thread thinking it was a joke about the original Star Trek and how we should boycott The Wrath of Khan. That being the joke, since Khan is pretty much agreed upon as being the best Star Trek ever.
Are you out of your Vulcan mind?
The first one had its flaws, but it was fun. Trek hadn’t been *fun *in a while.
My wife and I will be there.
If you’d like, I could stay off your lawn.
I enjoyed the first one and am looking forward to the next one. Fun movie.
I saw the reboot, and as another one of the fans from the first run of the original show, I found it to be pretty darn entertaining. I’m expecting to be entertained by the next one as well.
+1. I can hardly take my eyes off him in the trailer.* It does look pretty dark, though with a few light moments “I am not sure that qualifies.”
*Warning - the linked trailer pretty much gives away the entire plot.
Benedict. Cumberbatch.
No, I won’t be boycotting.
