Boycott Star Trek 2

Ha! Ahh, kids.

Batman is the guy who KERPOWS! Cesar Romero who has a whitewashed moustache, and Frank Gorshin who is wearing that disturbing bodystocking, while Julie Newmar purrs. It was to no extent dark.

Just because you and I thing it’s dumb is no reason other people will.

Ha! Aaah, kids…

Batman is the one who stands by and watches villains die, soliloquizing about how it’s proper justice.

Maybe I’ll go twice to cancel you out.

ummm…did you block out Star Trek V? That alone disproves your hypothesis.

I don’t mind a little bit of dumb in my big, cheesy, blockbuster movies, as long as I’m not so bored that I start picking apart the plot holes during the film. ST 2009 was a lot of fun, and I speak as a TOS fan of 40-ish years (so I can play this game too!).

I do agree, however, that Galaxy Quest is the best ST movie ever made.

Ha! Aaah, kids…

Batman is the one who fights the evil Jap Dr. Daka who has a radium gun that is more destructive than any weapon the world has ever seen. Also an alligator pit.

And no, it is not dark.

Well then, I’ve been a Trek fan for over 43 years, and I thought it was quite good.

So there. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m currently listening to Mr. Cumberbatch read The Memoirs of Casanova. Wow. Yeah. That man… fans self

I think this Onion video sums up my opinion of the types of people complaining about the last movie.

I’d like to live in the OP’s world, where Star Trek is the worst big budget movie ever produced. Every movie in that world must be awesome!

Anything that leaves no possibility for Sarek to explain to his son, *in the presence of his wife, *that he married her because at the time “it seemed the logical thing to do” is NOT Star Trek.

So, unless they use this year’s thingy to undo that “reboot” crap, I’m on board with this boycott.

Yeah, if you miss him in Star Trek your only chance to see him will be in Sherlock, Twelve Years a Slave, August: Osage County, The Hobbit, The Hobbit, The Hobbit (now available on Blu-Ray), and the Fifth Estate. Other then that, and the promotional tours for those films, he’ll be out of the public eye.

I count the reboot among the best Star Trek movies, and I like Trek. I’ve seen it a dozen times or more. Add to that Sherlock Holmes signing on to be the baddie in 2, you best believe I’mma gonna see it!

I am surprised. I thought fans of TOS would not like it.
Well, enjoy!

No.

That was funny. And I say that as one who was a fan of the original series when I was growing up, though I never got into the conventions, costumes etc.

When I first heard about the 2009 movie, I was skeptical - until I heard about the ‘reboot’ premise, that this Kirk and Spock had separated from the TOS timeline long before TOS, and therefore it was OK that they were different. Having realized that, I enjoyed the film, and expect to enjoy the next one.

Why wouldn’t they? It captured the spirit of the original characters quite well.

If anything, the people who don’t like it are probably fans of the touchy-feely, hotel-in-space TNG.

Hey, despite my comment above, I liked the re-boot and I am sure I will like the new one. I just have reservations from the trailer that the movie is going to pushing the “dark” motif. I don’t mind, but the trend is happening in all movies (except The Avengers which was awesome and fairly light, relatively speaking)

And yes, the 1960’s Batman TV sow was far campier than anything maybe ever and I realize Batman isn’t exactly dark and introspective throughout his history, but it is a little bit darker than Superman or the original Star Trek.
