Though he may have done a lazy job is he right that things will tighten up? I drove maybe 10 miles tonight and it may feel a bit better. Not sure.

That’s a minor detail that won’t cause a poor pedal in a job done properly.

 Been away from automotive for about 35 years, when I was doing automotive we always arced the lining. I never bother on my own cars and as you say when properly adjusted a soft pedal is never really an issue.
