i’m thinking of buying a frs or gmrs for the outdoor camping and mall stuff with the family. are cobra and audiovox any good? i know motorola is. anything else of high quality and modest price? thanks
Motorollas have come down alot (I still have 1 FRS motorola that cost me $170 from when the 1st came out) and those things are great - I would really look for them.
If you go for a cheaper brand make sure that along with the 38 or so channels you also have subcodes - some of the cheaper models haveno subcodes which really limits it usefullness in areas where many people are useing them
And don’t forget that GMRS radios require A LICENSE from the FCC! The form’s available on line and can be submitted, with payment right from your web browser.
The license requirement is glossed over by the stores selling the GMRS blister pack units.
