I thought it was entertaining. Well delivered. He probably has a career in standup. People are judging it by the standards of professionals it would seem. “Oh it’s totally unoriginal.”, as though everything in life has to be some sort of mind-blowing genius.

I think you’re right. Which means, more than a political speech, this was really sort of an audition. Really, the stuff complained about in that article is being blown totally out of proportion. I think we need a few rectal stickectomies to go around.

Sure, his audience loves him. “His audience” being the student body, not the parents or the newspapers or us. Watch the video - even the kids running against him are laughing and having a great time.
On the contrary, I think it was a great time, especially considering that he wasn’t seriously trying to knock anyone more deserving out of the slot - he himself voted for someone else, and his speech makes it clear that he’s not taking himself seriously. He was just trying to be silly and waste 3-5 minutes of his classmates time. And maybe get laid, I dunno.
Seriously, does no one have class clowns anymore?
