Bras...I hate 'em

I am so sick & tired of wearing a bra. In this warm weather they’re pure torture, and I can’t wait to get home and take it off. I see men everyday with bigger breasts than mine, why am I the one who’s expected to wear a bra? I think that if women are expected to wear bras in public, men with big breasts should have to wear them too. Shopping for bras rates right up there with a root canal for me, what an awful experience.
The first day of my experiment went like this:
I went out tonight to the barn to see my horse and then to go pick up dinner…and I didn’t wear a bra! I felt so free, and nobody was staring at my chest so maybe no one noticed. Down with bras! I will wear them no more!

I am going to a wedding tomorrow evening and I haven’t decided if I’m going to wear a bra yet. I might go without and observe other’s reactions to my chest. I’m not twenty and perky anymore, but my breasts aren’t totally saggy yet, so I think I can pull it off.

Bra haters - unite! Free the breasts!

Bras SUCK!!! Even for us small breasted women. Luckily I don’t have to worry about the damn underwire.

I rarely wear a bra unless I will be in public or at a family gathering for longer than five minutes.

Let’s not start on underwear too. But I had a thread about that last year.

techchick – braless and pantyless as we type.

I wear choli’s. They are much more comfortable, I can get different sleeve lengths, they come in many different materials and colours, and I can have them tailor made!

I do wear sports bras when I’m exercising but that’s it.

That should be “cholis,” not “choli’s.” I just hate making those mistakes!

I wish I could go Braless. I would be so Happy, unfortunatly, I am to big for it to be all that comfortable. The worst part is finding one that fits well. It doesn’t help that my chest size changes with my cycle. I don’t have one bra that fits me really well…Sigh.

Oh By the way, what is a cholis?

Yes! I hate bras too, especially underwire bras. I don’t wear bras in the summer unless I am wearing something very sheer, or if I’ll be exercising. Otherwise, screw it! The only bras I don’t mind are the sports bras that are more like a cut-off tank top. But it’s too hot in the summer to bother.

I don’t really mind bras; they pose no real problem to me except for buying them. I am exceptionally small (34A), so I very rarely find bras my size in women’s stores. Usually, I have to go to the little girl sections of Target and whatnot and I have to get these stupid “training bras” because those are the only ones that fit (and man, are they ugly!). I went to the Victoria’s Secret semi-annual sale on a few different occasions and they didn’t even have my size on one of the bins (there were plastic bins with like “36C” written on the side so you could find your size). Damn, I wish I didn’t have a body like a 12-year-old. But that’s a different rant entirely.

Harvey Lipschultz on Boston Public advised his students to “wear a bra for the good of the country.” I guess that’s the opposite of what you’re all saying, eh? But I just think it’s funny.

[sub]Sorry if this post had little to do with the OP. I really gotta stop staying up so late[/sub]

Choli is singular, cholis is plural. They are an Indian bra-type garment, somewhat like a halter-top. The sleeves are above the elbow and they can be low-cut or closed across the top.

Before the British arrived, they were open in the back to allow freedom of movement but are now usually worn with the back closed. The ones I wear are open in the back, since I usually wear them for dance. I also have long-sleeved, short-sleeved and sleeveless ones because they are just so damn comfortable.

Here is one place to look for cholis.

I hate em, but have to put up with them. My boobage is too big to go free, but not big enough to be impressive. It’s a damn conspiricy, I tell you.

I can relate, Fire. I’m a 36D, and I’ve pretty much given up on finding my size at VS. You just have to go to the catalog…and another thing that pisses me off is that sometimes companies charge more for a D+ bra…yeah! Those extra inch of fabric really jack up the price! And then there are the mega-3-hook bras that look like something my grandma would wear…
It’s the same thing with tall sizes, too; I’m 6’ tall and regular pants looks like capris on me. Again, thank goodness for catalogs and the few stores that are starting to carry them…anyway, now I’m just ranting.

I agree with Shera; it’s just too uncomfortable to go without a bra for too long, though it’s not fair that I should have to. I’ve been pretty happy with the CK bras I have (though they’re expensive), and my mom swears by those ribbed cotton ones that have elastic instead of wires (she’s a 36C). I’ve been wearing ‘bra tops’ lately…a top with a shelf bra in it, and it’s been a nice break from the underwires.

i hate bras because almost none of mine fit, i only have 1 bearable bra.
Nice strapless bras do not really come im my size, nor can i find regular bras in colors.

I really don’t need to wear one anymore – used to be a D, now am an A thanks to the miracle of plastic surgery – but thanks to about ten years of HAVING to wear one I feel sort of naked going without. Also, a large percentage of my summer shirts are white and I don’t feel like having the world see my nipples, so I compromise by wearing one or not based on how transparent the top.

But a few days before my period, I have to, because they hurt more if I DON’T than if I do. Ouchies!

I hate bras 'cuz on the rare occassion that a woman wants me to take one off for her I fumble and cuss and pull and strain. I just want to whip out my pocket knife and cut the darn strap and be done with it. I think I need more practice removing them.

We recently had three days of 90 degree weather. I have to wear a shirt and I wear a bra cause I’m a 34AA woman. My neighbor goes topless. He’s about a 38C. WHY?

but I buy an extra-large, even though I am a 34 AA, because I don’t like the tightness otherwise. This is the closest I can get to not wearing a bra with some of my blouses. With others, it doesn’t matter. At home, I wear whatever I want, but now that I work in an office, I try to dress sort of conservatively.

Annie-Xmas, I agree about your neighbor. It is unfair. And he will never be accused of being seductive, either.

Face it, if women walked around topless, men would NEVER get any work done. They would assume we were doing it for their pleasure.

Personally I go braless most of the time. Think bras are stupid. But when I go to work or have a thin top on, I wear a Jockey all-cotton bra. Not the ones that are one-size-fit-all, but the ones that are sized. They are soooo comfortable that I don’t mind wearing them.

Oh, god, bras. I don’t hate them in general, I hate the underwires.

I hate underwires for one very specific, isolated reason. I nearly lost an eye to one once, and I now have a scar near my left eye from that deathtrap. Let me serve as an example for you; never get your face close to th… um. Anyway.

Dear xcheopis, thanks for mentioning the choli. I love cholis, especially the backless ones. Even tho’ backless cholis are in fashion in India right now, just try finding one in an Indian store in the USA. They don’t exist! I wish they were easier to find. With all the cool embroidery & mirrors & stuff.

I hate bras, and always have. I refused to wear one until I was 17 years old. I finally gave in because I had a surprising growth spurt around the chest area at that age and one day caught myself having to provide manual support to my girls while running down the stairs at home. I decided then that a bra was the lesser of two evils. But I still hate them. I especially hate them because I can almost never find one that’s the right size. I finally had myself fitted at Victoria’s Secret, and the woman told me that “in a perfect world” I’d be a smallish 32-D, but that if I wanted to buy bras off the rack I’d best go with 34-C. That’s what I’d been wearing anyway. I had been hoping to hear that there was some better option for me, but apparently there isn’t. I guess I could have bras custom made, but I can hardly afford them even off the rack! How can such a small amount of fabric be so expensive?

Well, that’s my rant.

I hate em too.
In the summer, I wear a strapless one, casue of the strap-showing problem.
Its a good one, Victorias Secret ones are best, but expensive. It was $30!
