Brava, Ms. Ruvolo!

I will never tell crime victims how to react but Ms. Ruvolo’s actions have moved me to tears.

Basically a kid threw turkey off an overpass and hit her car a few months back. She suffered serious injuries. Instead of campaigning for a long jail sentence for the kid, she embraced him, forgave him and pleaded with the D.A. for leniency.

I thought the New York Times was eloquent in editorial page description of her actions.

VERY gracious of her. I admit I’m not sure if I could do that. I hope that “boy” (dammit, he is 19) learns from this.

Go and throw turkey no more.

I don’t think I could be so lenient on this kid if a turkey shattered my face. I hate turkey.

Yeah, I also don’t know if I could be so forgiving. My Sicilian blood can boil over petty things, and getting my face shattered with poultry isn’t very little.

I say this hoping it’s in me to be so forgiving, but doubting it.

I wouldn’t have it in me to be so forgiving. More power to her.

I really really hope he never ever commits another criminal act.

Brava, indeed. She’s got way more courage and strength that I’d ever have in my life.

I can’t help thinking how awkward Thanksgiving must be at the Ruvolo dinner table . . .

“Uh … you have a little turkey on your face there …”

Don’t I recall a WKRP in Cincinnati going something like this?
Sorry. No hijack intended. I hope the “boy” has a life worth of this level of forgiveness. I doubt if I would, were it me.
And, if it was a loved one…

As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.
You beat me to it, dammit.

She has a helluva lot more compassion than I would have, lemme tell ya.
