Brazil Precipitation

What is the total rainfall precipitation for Brazil? I recently read that Brazil receives 1/2 the world’s total rainfall. I find that hard to believe. So I’m wondering what is the total rainfall for Brazil vs the global total precipitation.

As a first order approximation, the Amazon River carries out approximately 1/5 of all water flowing into the ocean. Which is mighty impressive, but not 1/2 of the world’s total rainfall.

Also, you have to remember that land covers only 30% of the globe, 70% is water, and rain falls on the ocean, too. So the Amazon basin most likely receives around 1/15 of the world’s total rainfall.

It might be higher than this due to evaporation, but I feel confident that there is not an order of magnitude difference between the runoff rates and rainfall rates.

(Yes, the Amazon basin != brazil. But even though rain falls in Brazil outside of the Amazon, there are places in the Amazon basin that are not in Brazil, so it’s basically a wash.)
