As is the case with most cars, turning the exterior lights on includes turning on the interior lights (dashboard, radio, clock (brighter), gears etc…). I just noticed that when applying the break (with the exterior lights off) also turns the interior lights on. I am not sure if this is supposed to happen (I think not). Does anyone know what this might be a result of? Thanks.
No, the interior lights should not come on when you apply the brake. You probably have a short somewhere.
Look for a bad ground wire on one of your taillight sockets.

Break lights seem to be very problematic. That’s why I use brake lights, they require less repair.
Thanks guys, apparently one of the break lights was loose and after a small adjustment everything is working fine.
Okay, if no one else will I will. GOOD ONE DtB !
I find it amusing that he did it even after Dale’s post.
Either way, I’ve never heard of a car that does that, and can’t think of any good reason for why it should.
Despite the misspelling, did you know what I was talking about?
Ooops…apparently should read:
“Despite the misspelling, did you know what I was typing about?”
Just about all american made car will do this, dash and tail lights share a common power connection at the headlight switch, tail lights and brakelights/ turn signals share a common ground at the tail light socket, lose the ground at the socket and 12VDC will flow from the turn signals/brakelights thru the common connection(in the tail light bulb itself) at the broken ground up the lail light wire to the common connection at the headlight switch and on to the dash lights and ground.
