Breaking Bad 5.10 "Buried" 8/18/13

The Honest Trailers - Breaking Bad is pretty good.

Heh. “A juggalo without the makeup.”

Needs more tightie whities.

Are there any lotteries anywhere that go up to 106? I know Powerball goes from 1-59. Wikipedia has a list of various state lotteries and from a quick scan, Lotto Texas goes up to 54, which seems to be the highest.

I’m dying to find out

how he got Jessies jacket.
Not sure that needed a box but, whatever. Has it been mentioned before?

Re: zoid’s spoiler box, yeah, I think I mentioned it in the previous ep’s thread. I saw a post about it somewhere.

It’s not exactly the same jacket, just similar.

It’s also very similar to the jacket that Todd was wearing when he called down to Lydia in the buried bus.

It was multiple tickets on a Pick 3.

Maybe after Hank’s DEA career is over he’ll end up like Mike- an “enforcer” in charge of Security for the next drug boss- Lydia, perhaps? …Nah, Hank is one of the good guys. I don’t see him going down that road.

Another maybe- what’s left of the Mexican cartel comes after Jesse, the only surviving member of the team that took out Don Eladio and the rest. They kill Jesse (and possibly some others, such as Skyler), prompting Walt to buy an M-60 and go seeking revenge.

Walt looks like hell in the future scenes, but he says he’s just driven across the country without stopping for anything other than gas. If true, that would explain it.

My take as well. The glance looked more like a rueful " we should have skimmed a percent" than a pleased “awesome, we’re in the clear with our skim.” The very fact that they are scared of Walt ( with good reason ) and opened the lids so he could count/inspect suggests to me that they chickened out on grabbing a few stacks.

I agree, this show is about everyone’s propensity to break bad, given the right circumstances. Hank already did it once, when he beat Jesse within an inch of his life. Skyler, Marie, Ted, and Saul all had their faults that made them break the law. Gomez and Walt Jr. are the only substantial characters that don’t have a felony that jumps to mind. Jesse, Gus, Mike, and maybe Gayle are the only main characters who I don’t see “Breaking Bad” during the show, they’ve already crossed. Mike and Gus have an established code that they follow (“I mean, say what you want about National Socialism, Dude, at least it’s an ethos.” - Walter Sobchak). Gayle simply had no idea what he had decided to do. Jesse seems to be trying to find his. We’ll see what it has become when we find out what comes of his conversation with Hank.

I am not convinced Hank wanted to reveal to the DEA what he had yet. I don’t think he had made a decision one way or the other. I think he wanted the meeting to find out how far along they actually were. When he heard that Jesse was there he had to get there fast, not knowing if Jesse was about to spill the whole thing wide open, which would definitely put him in a tight spot. So I think a real possibility is that Hank is somehow going to make sure Jesse doesn’t talk, just yet, until Hank comes up with a strategy.

One of the guys was one of my all-time favorite comedians, Bill Burr.

Heh. I had to laugh when The Bridge had someone wearing tighty whities. Breaking Bad brings back traditional underwear.

I was saying to my father how Walt Jr. is the only person on there who is still innocent. “Well, presumably the baby hasn’t done anything bad.” Or has she?!

That brings up something I’ve wondered about before. How do you get so involved that they make you a job offer, but then you say no? It doesn’t seem like either the super chill Gus or the twitchy Nazi ex-cons would let you say “Thanks, but nah, it’s just not right for me” and walk away.

I suppose they feel you out to see if you’re up for some kind of nefarious career before they spill the beans, but there has to come a point where they say “cooking meth” and you’re a potential threat. At that point, maybe the job offer is really “Do you want to work for us or do you want to end up in a barrel of acid?”

I disagree. There is no active Heisenberg investigation. It’s over. The only one even thinking about it is Hank. Why do you think he wanted to push back the budget meeting? Because he was expecting to lose his job during the conference call with Ramey! Ramey doesn’t have any status updates on Heisenberg because the case has been cold for three months.

I believe that’s called making someone an offer they can’t refuse. With someone like Gale, it’s probably safe to assume that Gus vetted him well enough (him, his personality/‘type’, his friends, his life in general, what makes him happy, his politics, etc) to know that he’d be okay in this line of work.

Huh? How in the world is getting a tape recorder out any indication whatsoever that Hank is breaking bad? If anything, it’s proof that he’s straining as hard as he can to keep his side-investigation legitimate by looking for concrete evidence he could present, instead of conjecture.

I think you miswatched that scene. He pushed back the budget meeting to make room for a conference call with Ramey that had not been scheduled.

Hank didn’t do anything bad in the diner scene. From his perspective, Skyler is an innocent victim and if she comes clean about everything she knows, she minimizes the chances the DEA will look at her as a potential co-conspirator. It’s true that he’s not giving her the best legal advice, but he think he’s helping and he hasn’t stopped to consider the possibility that she’s involved.
