How do we think the Czech Republic connections are going to play into the final eight episodes. Kind of a big plot point to bring up this late in the game. Maybe Walt or Jesse or whoever is left standing will end up there?
About the machine gun… Breaking Bad is known for it’s “YEAH SCIENCE!” type plans. The super magnet, the explosives set off by a bell, etc. Whatever Walt needs that gun for, I bet it’s not anything at all like we’re thinking and may not be used as a weapon at all.
Even better…Hank plunging the toilet with his pants around his ankles, and Walt knocking on the door checking on Hank to see if everything is alright…kind of the reverse of what we are used to see between Walt and Hank.
Hank is gonna have quite a massive character check in the final 8, with Walt and family on one side, and Steven Gomez (who I think is gonna be a major player from here on out) and SAC Ramey doing their tug of war with Hank’s attention (or inattention) to the case. If Hank is in some sort of “holding pattern” on getting his bearings on Walt, but happens to mention it to Gomez, there might also be some tension between Hank and Gomez as the last season progresses. Gomez might even surpass Hank on loyalty to the DEA where Hank might weaken and falter because of family ties.
My thinking is this: Hank knows all about the blue meth. We know he knows Gale worked at the superlab Gus was running. I’m not sure exactly what he knows about Gus’ network, but he knows it was a large operation (14 restaurants and other businesses) with some significant distribution and a connection to a big German conglomerate. Now he knows Walt worked at the superlab with Gale and that Gale looked up to Walt as a mentor. Maybe I’m making an assumption about Heisenberg’s street cred following the ATM-head squishing incident, but my thinking was that that would get back to Hank through informants. Gus is gone and the Mexicans aren’t involved in Albuqerque right now, which is no small thing, and the blue meth is still around. It’s true there have been a couple of periods during the series where the stuff was off the market. Hank has never let go of the Heisenberg-Fring case and he’s never said anything that would make us think he believes some external organization is responsible. The Pollos 9 more or less had to be wiped out by someone with a connection to Gus and Mike because that’s who they could have incriminated. The killing of Gus and the elimination of the Pollos 9 were big deals. Now, does Hank know that only one person did pretty much all of that? Not for sure, but what I’ve been saying is that it stands to reason. Things started changing fast once that blue meth showed up, and it’s still around after a bunch of turmoil in the local drug scene.
Everything you point out in this and your earlier posts is also compatible with Walt being the Cook and Mike being the enforcer / mastermind who killed Gus to take over, eliminated the competition and is still around (as far as Hank knows).
Also, since Mike is conveniently dead, Walt is free to spin it this way, when Hank does confront him, he can pretend to be the innocent cook manipulated first by Gus then by Mike, and blame all the murders on Mike. Walt can play Hank along, leading him on a wild goosechase for the boogieman Mike that was behind it all until he eventually messes up.
So what does Hank do now? Does he confront Walt immediately or does he keep quiet and investigate him very carefully? My guess is that he’ll do the latter.
What episode is the one where hank flashes back to? Season 3 I think but not sure…thank for any help…youse guys are awesome…BB s the best & this forum is awesome
I think this depends on if he thinks Walt is the cook or the mastermind as myself and Marley have been arguing about.
If Hank thinks Walt is just the cook, he’d confront him to try and offer him protection in return for leading Hank to the bigger players. Which would lead to Walt setting up Mike as the mastermind as I’ve been suggesting.
If he does think Walt is behind it all, he’ll keep quiet and investigate him, which will probably have to be unofficially. I don’t see how Hank can assign any DEA assets to working on his own brother in law without implicating himself.
The writers wouldn’t have the scan in the show without a reason. They don’t show things that don’t matter. I agree with those who think the cancer is back. It’s a perfect explanation for his complete reversal about giving Jesse the money and quitting the meth business.
Is there confirmation that Aaron Paul is involved in the shooting of the final season? Based on the news of the deaths of the 10 prisoners, it wouldn’t be too hard for him to make the same conclusion as Lydia that Mike is dead, but with his $5M in hand, I don’t see him going after Walt for revenge. It would be nice to see him get away with the money, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets sucked into the vortex of Walt’s downfall. Reminds me of what Clint Eastwood said in Unforgiven “We all have it comin’ kid.”
I have no idea, but even if the writers don’t address it again, it still served two purposes. It saved Lydia’s ass, and Walt could have seen it as the final step in his rise to power – going global with his product.
He did seem awfully bored after that three-month montage, like “What’s left? Is this all there is?” Even before Skyler showed him all the money, he was acting like any other nine-to-five drone.
Anyone else chuckle at Jesse, when he and Walt were talking about why they hung on to the RV. Walt says “Inertia” and Jesse says “Yeah, nersha.”
We watched this episode just last night. Haven’t looked through the entire thread – geez but these Breaking Bad threads rack up the posts in no time flat – but I agree that no way could GB be anyone but Gail. It’s just wishful thinking to think otherwise. The time period does seem to be short in this single episode, but it could actually cover months. As we now know, the opening of the season’s first episode clearly indicates one year on from the rest of the early part of this season, since Walt is doing his birthday thing with his breakfast in the diner.
Hate to wait 10 more months. Why are they doing this? Why couldn’t they just present the regular 16-episode season all at once like normal?
