It is a really good show
Well, the end of last season was certainly dramatic, but I’m not sure I understand one scene, when:
John goes to that warehouse and shoots all those people. It seemed extraneous to the plot. Was it just to show that he’s really a bad-ass? Did we really need to be told that?
And I’m assuming that:
Jesse didn’t shoot Gale and is going to keep him captive somewhere out of sight (and himself as well).
My assumption on the resolution of the series is that:
Walt will have to turn state’s evidence in order to save himself and his family. Any takers?
The general consensus according to Vince Gilligan and others is that
Jesse really shot him. The camera angles made it seem that the shooting angle shifted, but that was just bad camera work. It’s clearer if you slo-mo the scene. I think it works better for the character development of Jesse, too.I think there’s a thread on here somewhere that elaborates more on this.
This was to show that the Mexican cartel was making serious inroads into New Mexico
Nope - he’s dead.
This one, I believe. I had made the same assumption Chefguy did - but it was cleared up. Posts 74-76.
Well, last night was the last episode in the AMC full-series marathon. Have got 33 eps on my DVR now. Think I smell a summer project coming (have never seen the show before)
Not “bad” - deliberate. Messin’ wit’ yo head.
no way, that would be way too cheezy. Gilligan’s better than that.
No, Walt will come to a bad end, I assure you.
Looks like they’re starting them over again from the pilot.
You’re probably right. After all he’s done, a bad end awaits. Jesse, on the other hand, other than being a meth dealer, may be redeemed. Unless he offed Gale, of course. The upcoming season should be killer.
AMC showed the last episode last night and I’m finally caught up so I can read this thread without fear of spoilers.
I think this show is the best drama on TV right now, no question. One thing I love is how hard it is for the characters to kill anyone. These feel like real people making tortured and weighty decisions.
I also like how gray all of the characters are. Walt has slowly become a killer while Jesse actually became a worse person after getting clean. The brother-in-law and sister-in-law started out being insufferable, and they have both turned out more interesting than ever (Hank more than Marie, though).
I also like that the Chicken Man has slowly revealed himself not to be the avuncular entrepreneur he seemed at first, but a remorseless killer, albeit smart, polished, and polite. A nice drug kingpin never struck me as being very believable to begin with, so I’m glad they’ve moved in that direction.
My favorite scene of the series is Walt and Gomie looking in on the injured cartel assassin in the hospital. The blood pressure monitor goes off the charts and he starts dragging his body across the floor. Just awesome.
I think your body count is way off. No-Doze, Gonzo? One was killed by Tuco, the other by chance. The ATM guy had nothing to do with Walt. His head was going to get squished either way.
People Walt has killed with his own hands:
Emilio
Krazy 8
2 drug dealers
All of these were in self-defense, although really what was Krazy 8 supposed to do when he was bike-locked in a basement?
Walt actually morally culpable for:
Jane
Combo
Gale (if he’s actually dead)
Of these, I think Combo is actually the worst. He was killed because of Walt’s greed and naivete. And then when he got killed, Walt asked “Which one was he?” Unforgivable.
Jane had threatened Walt and his family with exposure, plus she was going to drag Jesse down the drain with her. Yeah, Walt shouldn’t have watched her die, but he’s not responsible for the actions of her father a month later.
Gale is also a hard one. I guess it was either him or Walt, but I don’t see how this will delay Walt’s impending execution more than a couple weeks. Surely they are more people out there who know how to cook blue meth other than just Walt. Especially at a million dollars a month.
