Breaking Quarantine

Dr Snyderman, SHAME on you. While I don’t think you exposed anyone, your ethics are nonexistent, you self serving (no wait, you sent a minion) self centered egotistical vicuna. You LIED about a “voluntary” 21 day quarantine. What a disgusting piece of work.

A little background, or a link to explain, would be nice.

See here . A cameraman working for a news team that went to Liberia caught Ebola, so the whole crew placed themselves under a voluntary quarantine. Then, they went on to buy food at a restaurant. As a result, the quarantine will be now forced.

From Wikipedia:

While I can get behind this pitting, there is something else that bothers me about this story: if your options are “agree to a voluntary quarantine” and “be subjected to compulsory quarantine,” it’s not a voluntary quarantine.

I guess they couldn’t get the restaurant to deliver? Or anyone to bring the food to their door and drop it off?

Pancakes and flounder will fit under the door.

As will cheese slices and fruit-roll-ups.

The part I’m pitting (sorry for no cite at OP, I’d been reading the news and was pissed) is that this action trivializes quarantine, and makes her appear to have done the voluntary strictly for publicity.
It’s also an adolescent assumption of “it can’t happen to MEEEE”.

Nancy Snyderman appears on television as an entertainer, not a doctor. That’s enough for a pitting all by itself.

What makes Snyderman really appalling is the utter lack of personal responsibility she took in her “apology”. “Members of the team” broke quarantine?? It was YOU, personally, bitch.

Eh. I get that they quarantined themselves and all and that thats bad, but I don’t know that it did any harm. None if them are sympomatic, so even if they have the virus, they arent contageous.

I don’t see the sense in complaining about folks who know they’ve been in company with someone who’s been infected, but are monitoring for relevant symptom(s) to reflect that virus level has reached X point in their system to indicate they need to seek medical assistance. (Personally, I wouldn’t have fed into the nonsense by talking about a self-imposed 100% quarantine … assuming 100% was what was promised.) If you notice a fever starting while out for dinner, etc., that’d simply mean it’d be best if you refrained from opening a vein and smearing your blood on people.

Seems better to save the worry/concern/ire about those who’ll lie about it and go into denial mode once a fever and whatever other symptom(s) start, or honestly thinking it’s flu or food poisoning. Luckily, it’s at present impossible to hide being so sick that you’re terribly infectious. (Personally, I’m grateful that the virus isn’t such that the indicator of infectiousness isn’t simply running a high fever, since there are things that can be ingested to artificially lower temp.)

I should think it’s helpful to know that folks hanging out in a small apartment with someone sick as a dog for two days+ (?) haven’t shown signs of infection. And thanks Texas! (Maintaining its number one ranking as fuckwitted is very important, I gather.) Those that might’ve laid a bet as to which state would manage to engage in beyond-the-pale medical malpractice and with possibly horrifying consequences would likely choose between you and Florida.)

YES!!! (Or-has it been done?) It’s ok with me if ENTs and transplant surgeons want to be on TV and have their own shows. Just don’t think you are anything BUT entertainment, and stop selling stuff that doesn’t work (Oz) or lie about your intentions (NS).
