Bricker, you know how you always get peeved when posters here at the SDMB say someone should be thrown in jail, and you get all nitpicky about “what statute do you think they broke? what’s your evidence that they violated it?”
Because they’re not just a coupla guys on a message board. One’s governor of Louisiana, and the other’s Speaker of the House of Representatives. If we ought to know better, then these guys ought to know way better. In spades. Doubled, redoubled, raised to slam, and doubled and redoubled again.
Jindal:
Boehner:
Like I said, these are high public officials, whose jobs are writing the laws (Boehner) and executing the laws of the state of Louisiana (Jindal). Their jobs are rather intimately connected with laws. They presumably know a lot more about the laws than do random bozos on a message board. And yet…
So, Bricker, I hope you’re absolutely incensed with these guys, and wonder what the devil the voters and their party are doing, trusting them with high office, when they fail a test about the law that you think random bozos on a message board ought to pass.
What can I say - I saw that story, and thought of Bricker.
And I’m not so much Pitting him, just that I doubt a thread directed at a particular person in this manner would be welcome in another forum. It’s here by default.
Wow. Let’s grab a couple of random bozos who’ve made comments in the press and use them as a springboard to pit someone who has never had anything to do with them.
What need for a trial? You’ve convicted him, fair and square!
(FWIW, total agreement with the OP. Bricker exhibits noisome pedantic rhetorical behavior, dictionary games, sliding between technical language and commonplace language, etc. And he has really bad breath, too.)
Bricker’s well documented political leanings aside, you don’t know for a fact that Bricker agrees with their statement wholesale based solely on his political affiliations. Even if he doesn’t grill them the way he grills a “fellow doper” that doesn’t necessarily make him a hypocrite either.
Hm, for some reason I thought this was going to be about our recent influx (well, mini-influx) of “will Benghazi/IRS destroy the Democrats? Will it? Huh? Huh? I’m just asking questions here” posters, which I’d hope would put to rest future whining about how conservatives are hunted for sport on this board, i.e. these clowns are criticized and challenged but for the most part tolerated, so quit playing the victim card, already.
RTFirefly, I’m often on your side when you and Bricker go at it. And yeah, he does do that thing you’re complaining about. But this is pretty weak stuff to go after Bricker with.
Politicians regularly assume crime and call for people to go to jail. Liz Warren, someone who should know better being a law professor and all, has called for bankers to go to jail. I guess she means as a class?
I think the weakness is part of the point. Said poster whose name I will not repeat would sometimes say “hey, those random other people over there, why aren’t you complaining about them? Doesn’t that make you a hypocrite?” So RT doing the same thing is part of the gotcha ya.
