Bricker is a Pile of Shit Sculpted into Human Shape

How about you argue with what I actually said? I am talking about the guy’s racism. I even specifically gave examples. YOU AVOIDED EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM.

He used a racist slur. He defends the racist concept of coonery, of black people who are insufficiently black for his tastes. He argues that white people are all inbred and that leads to autism. He argues that moderators enforcing the civility rules of this board are just being white people oppressing him. He constantly attacks all white people as being evil.

I never once argued against any of the points you have stated. I never argued against liberal or Democratic neglect of people of color. I never argued that these “cell phone” incidents aren’t bad. I never said anything against BLM–I’m a fucking advocate of that movement, for fuck’s sake. And Trump’s racism has constantly been a cry.

I never once defended any of the racism on this board. I’m the guy who actually says that racism should count as “being a jerk” (along with other forms of bigotry). I’ll admit I don’t know who you are talking about who got driven off. I do know several other people who did get driven off, however. If I see it happening, I’m always there to fight back.

And I never once argued against anything in your indented section. I never even brought up the idea of individual racism vs. institutional/systemic racism. You accuse me of dismissing something out of hand that I never even discussed.

I find it incredibly frustrating when people accuse me of things I didn’t say. I find it really hard to believe that you somehow misunderstood me, since nothing I said resembles what you claim. But I will at least give the benefit of the doubt that you ascribed what someone else said to me.

Still, if you want to disagree with me, then I expect you to challenge the points I actually made. If you continue to argue things I didn’t say, then I will assume you’re just pulling one of Bricker’s moves: trying to redirect the conversation to something you are right about, and hope no one notices that you never proved you weren’t wrong about the original topic.

The topic is that he has said these racist (or racially prejudiced) things, and that you shouldn’t downplay that by calling them “jabs” or “missteps.” They are wrong. They override his message, because you can’t engage in racial prejudice while lecturing others about it. If he has a problem with systemic racism, why would he attack Bricker with a racist slur, demonstrating that he is himself racist against Latinos?

He doesn’t fill any hole here. He just makes all the racist people think they were right, that social justice and racism theory really is just about attacking white people. That people who say they are against racism have no problem using it themselves to attack people they don’t like. He confirms the KKK saying that “anti-racist means anti-white.”

No, it doesn’t:

“Historically, autism prevalence has been much higher among white children compared with black and Hispanic children, according to the CDC. But in the most recent report, minority populations had similar percentages of kids with autism as found in white children, Singer said. (For example, in earlier years, autism rates were about 30 percent higher in white children than in black children; but in the latest report, the autism rate was only 7 percent higher among white children than in black children, the CDC said.)”

So, two options have been put forward:

  1. The theory from the above article (and the other ones I linked to) saying that there’s been an improvement in recognising autism, and hopefully in other aspects of healthcare, for minority populations
  2. Your theory about inbreeding, which by your theory apparently became a lot more popular in minority populations between 2008 and 2016.

I have to ask why you reject a simple explanation that in itself is good proof of institutional racism (and god knows is backed up by a whole raft of statistics such as infant mortality rates, life expectancy rates, disease survivability rates, and so on for minority populations) so you can make the claim that “white people have a higher prevalence of autism due, in part, to inbreeding”.

Of course they do. They might not intend to, but quite often someone will say does so and so or think so and so. The usually-intended meaning of this constructions is “, as a general rule, do so and so”, not “a minority of do so and so”. It’s the language of stereotyping.

Witness the threads that seemed to be ubiquitous here awhile ago that complained “why do women like bad boys?” and you usually had a lot of women come in and say that they didn’t. Should they not have contradicted the OP because the OP obviously didn’t mean all women?

You…you have got to see the irony in this, right? I mean, it’s performance art, right?

Bricker is indeed pretty much an anal lover of all rules. In a discussion of changes that could be made to advance the country’s well being (we call this “progress”), he’s useless.

Something of a moderate, which for Republicans means he accepts progress so long as it doesn’t involve any actual change.

And yet he refuses to admit it: never once has he said “IANAL”!

Well, if I posted as many do here but on a more conservative message board in a manner to impress my fellow posters you might have a point with your claim of irony. When I post here it sure doesn’t lead to feelings of validation or acceptance. And if you notice, I don’t change what I post in order to impress people. Other than that, yes, I see the irony.

Psst. Check out the context, starting with post #600. It’s not a strawman here.

I’m mostly cool with #MeToo.

So why do you do it?

Self-awareness is not a strong suit for conservatives. In fact, science agrees:

Because I want to. I like reading other points of view. I like discussions that have different points of view. However, I damn sure don’t need anyone’s approval online.

Why do you post here? You need validation from these misanthropes?

So political beliefs and how one thinks is biological? That sounds racist!!1!

You sound racist. Because you are. And a shitstain.

Oh noes! A simpleton in the pit is being edgy…

You know, I thought that NPC meme hitting twitter wouldn’t reach SDMB. But your posts fit the stereotype perfectly.

Yeah, I don’t buy that for a second. That would explain lurking here, but they way you engage with the other posters here and repeatedly play professional victim makes my bullshit detector go off. It’s pretty obvious to even a casual lurker like myself that you’re primarily here to either poke the libs or please your Russian boss. Which is it?

This is disingenuous as fuck. You thought it wouldn’t reach here, so you decided to bring it with you and use it here to dehumanize someone, you disgusting fucking slimeball. You are truly a spineless little maggot deserving nothing but the profoundest contempt and ridicule.

‘Russian boss’

‘Dehumanizing’

Lol. The irony subroutine is in recursive mode.

I’m surprised you didn’t work Nazi into your unhinged rant.

Flattery isn’t our thing.

So you’re here to poke the libs then. Just don’t act so fucking surprised when that results in you being as popular as a turd in the swimming pool.

You know that’s the whole reason that NPC meme thing is offensive, right? If someone is an NPC, they’re not a real human. Once you convince someone that their opponent isn’t human, you can do convince them do do whatever you want to them. It’s the reason that I no longer believe that the solution for bad speech is more speech. You can’t fight this idea with words, because your words no longer count if you’re “not human.” The only solution is violence, unfortunately.

So I don’t think you’re a nazi, but you are absolutely spouting Nazi propaganda. It’s not a good look.

You asked a question and I answered. You don’t believe I post here because I’m curious about other points of view. That’s fine. However, I don’t owe civility to people who have been rude to me first.

Again why do you post here? Do you need validation from others to reinforce your sense of self?

You bring up an interesting point about speech being met with violence. You agree with what happened to that unfortunate reporter in Turkey?
