Now, I know that Bricker pittings are pretty much a “oh is it that time of the year again?” sort of thing, but this isn’t so much a pitting of Bricker, as it is of myself, and everyone like me.
That is, I suppose I’m saying that, I was a fool to ever think that Bricker was a rational, reasonable conservative. I don’t know why I looked up to him. I don’t know why I ever thought he was interesting.
The straw that basically broke the camel’s back was his “look for the union label” thread. Now, he eventually apologized, admitted his mistake, and that was that. Ok, well… I had pretty much lost all respect for him but he gained some of it back with his admission.
Then he has to come in and basically threadshit in the “Buchanan: “White America died” election night” thread, with the following gem:
And thus, the camel’s back has been broken. I know that Bricker is smarter than this. I know that in his heart he must realize that there is literally no comparison between the threads, but he urges us to make them anyway (knowing full well that no one is going to side with him).
So, I just want to apologize for ever standing up for Bricker, and I want to congratulate every single one of you who have recognized Bricker for the partisan hack that he has always been.
I like Briker’s threads. But then, I also like Diamonds02 and ZPG’s threads. Sometimes the crazy is just too fun to not like. I don’t agree with anything they post, so I usually don’t post to them…its just that the entertainment value is pretty high and I do love popcorn.
I agree. For some reason, people seem to hold you to a higher standard. Me, I know you’re now about on par with Brain Glutton.
To the OP, I felt as you did. Of course that was waaaaayyy back in 2004, I noticed that Bricker’s posting had taken a turn for the worse and I started a thread about it. Back then, he seemed to notice there might have been a problem too. That was almost 8 years ago and needless to say my warnings didn’t help and he continued down that partisan hack road that I had warned him about. Now has lost almost all the respect I had for him as a poster. I can understand how someone with a join date of 2011, however, will still give him the benefit of the doubt, but those of us who have been around longer know him for what he is.
Drew, what is your beef exactly? You don’t really spell it out in the OP.
Also, this is a much better example of the phenomenon Bricker posted about in that thread. The OP of that thread did the exact same thing Bricker did, but that OP was anti-Romney, so the fair and balanced denizens of the SDMB said exactly nothing.
I have three daughters, and they often play the “but she did something bad too and you didn’t punish her” game. I find it as unconvincing from them as I do from you and Bricker.
One poster posts something anti-Obama, and it turns out to be bullshit. Other posters jump all over his ass.
Another poster posts something anti-Romney, and it turns out to be bullshit. Other posters don’t say a damn thing.
And yet, said posters maintain that they live in the fact-based world (unlike their opponents), and that they are all about the truth (unlike their opponents).
You don’t think their behavior casts doubt on their claims?
