Could we build a bridge that reached across the entire globe, so that people could actually walk across the world?
I suppose we could, but it would cost a tremendous amount of money. Even if we did, would you use a bridge that spans an entire ocean, with 1500 miles of water in front and in back of you. I know I wouldn’t.
start walking now…why don’t you start with your city, then do the state, then country, then continent…and when you’re done…give us a call at the straight dope and we’ll cross the bridge when you come to it
now…will somebody go down the road and please buy me some bread, cheese, and some vanilla ice-cream ? i’m hungry…and lazy ( just kiddin’ )
Forrest Gump sure woulda loved yer bridge run Forrest run…shit happens and then the straight dope tells you exactlyhow it happened

-xash.
Xash is think you just set the record for number of smily faces used in one post. Not only that but you double posted.
I pretty sure we wouldn’t be able to build a bridge in deep ocean.
Megastructures would be interesting. Before they go the ocean-spanning bridge route, however, I want to see people put “cloud nines” up in the air.
