I read the book when I was about 20 and loved it. Just reread it. I had a brief stint with the Bolivian Marching Powder. I saw the movie when it first came out and only liked it OK. How often do you see a film adaptation of a book you love and not feel that way? Anyway I have watched the film a couple of times recently and I really love it now. And Michael J. Fox, that scene where he is at Swoozie Kurtz’s apartment, drinking wine and telling her the story of his break-up with his wife, man that is some damn fine acting. Most actors overplay being drunk but he nails it.
“You are not the kind of guy who would be at a place like this at this time of the morning. And you cannot say that the terrain is entirely unfamilar, although the details are fuzzy.”
