We see them, but fairies appear to be vermin and dragons are wild animals.
Reddit speculates about Goblins, Giants (not sure if they are supposed to be the same as Ogres or not), and Panahu (whatever those are!?) For all we know, there may be a dozen sentient races, not all of which joined the army fighting the Dark Lord.
The ultimate answer is, fewer than nine races were named in the original movie and script. The rest is left to the viewer’s imagination, and could be one of the sequel hooks.
Inferni are not a race, they are a secret society like the Illuminati. It’s led by elves because they just happen to lead everything. Also dragons are usually intelligent beings in this type of setting.
The Dark lord was clearly an elf in the graffiti shown in the movie also. They also put out some kind of infographicthat shows the nine races as humans orcs elves dwarves ogres giants reptiles centaurs and walrus people.
I’m a little late to this, and we’re not all the way through this.
A few thoughts.
-I like the concept, but then I like urban fantasy.
-30 minutes into it, we already have an arresting amount of intrigue, with some prophecy thrown in
-It’s fun watching elves in Beverly Hills, and fairies at the bird feeders.
-The race/racist parallels are very obvious (in a why can’t we judge people by the content of their character, not by their looks)
There are hints of interesting things ahead. I’m looking forward to seeing more.
I like Will Smith, so I don’t mind that it’s a Will Smith Movie.
I also thought that this was a series, not a movie and was disappointed.
We thought of another shows that this reminded us of: Almost Human. Who is human, and is entitled to serve? What does it mean to be human?
I understand that a second movie has been ordered.
It was even better the second time around. we had to pause to read the graffiti which did tell more of the story. Further, caught a lot more details. The Centaur, the lizard man crossing sign, everything. Love it!
