I’m specifically requesting spoilers, so if you can’t stand the heat, hit the bricks.
I’ve watched this series rather intermittently of late and missed a few major transitions. To wit (I’ll be using actor and character names pretty freely, since I never memorized them all):
[ul][li]I know from context that “Doc” went nuts, but I missed the specific episode. Did he give reasons? Did he actually shoot one of his hostages? I heard he was committed to Bellvue. Any follow-up?[/li][li]Kim Raver has left the show - under what circumstances? What about her child Joey?[/li][li]Sgt. Cruz is intermittently in uniform. For any particular reason? Fallout from that bit with Tom Berenger?[/li][li]Is Skipp Sudduth still bitter and cynical?[/li][li]Has Carlos given up for good on medical school? Did Tye give up or good on law school?[/ul][/li]
T’anks.
Well, i haven’t watched the show much this season at all, but I’ll answer what I think I know.
I know from context that “Doc” went nuts, but I missed the specific episode. Did he give reasons? Did he actually shoot one of his hostages? I heard he was committed to Bellvue. Any follow-up? It was PTSD from 9/11. I can’t be certain, but I don’t think he shot anyone, they talked him out of it. I don’t know what happened to him after that. Kim Raver has left the show - under what circumstances? What about her child Joey? Her character left to get back toghther with her ex-husband, so I assume that the boy is still with them both. Sgt. Cruz is intermittently in uniform. For any particular reason? Fallout from that bit with Tom Berenger? IIRC she was demoted for a while. She wasn’t happy. Is Skipp Sudduth still bitter and cynical? Yes
**Has Carlos given up for good on medical school? Did Tye give up or good on law school?**No idea about Carlos, he’s still an EMT, but last I remember Ty was taking an exam to get inot law school.
Doc did shoot one person, his new boss (Starsky!). He thought the boss was brought in to close the station and shot him in the gut to teach him a lesson about response times (hence the crazy). I believe they talked him out of shooting anybody else or killing himself or whatever.
Fairly sure Kim was also pregnant again, and had a scare at a fire scene which helped her decision to quit.
Not sure about Ty, but Carlos did give up on med school. Decided he was a really good EMT and that was good enough. It all ended with the arc where he met his brother.
Doc did shoot the new fire chief, played by Paul Michael Glaeser (of “Starsky & Hutch”). He stole Sasha’s gun, and went to the fire house and took everyone hostage. He then shot the new chief and wanted to wait a certain amount of time (15 or 20 minutes?) before anyone could help him, to prove that making the paramedics stay out on the street, rather than in the house, was a bad idea. The cops had sharpshooters, and took a shot at him, and Doc went to the third floor. Sully came over and talked him out of killing himself. Doc told Sully a story about 9/11, and how he helped set up a triage area for casualties, but none came - they were all dead. Yes, he went to Belleview, but he is supposed to be back for the series finale, along with Kim and Jimmy. Yes, series finale. The show has been cancelled, and there are just two more episodes left.
Kim got pregnant by Jimmy, and left for that reason. She and Jimmy got back together and it was implied that they were getting remarried.
Carlos gave up on medical school a season or two ago. I think he decided that being a paramedic was good enough and that he really liked it after all.
Ty was studying for the law school entrance exams last season (after meeting up with a former co-student who was now an ADA), and he and Sully both took the test together, and I think Sully ended up getting a good score. Nothing more ever came of that, though.
Didn’t Kim actually take a promotion to a desk job?
I used to love the show, until they got rid of most of the firefighters and paramedics and made it a cop show. Yeah, we need more cop shows.
They took away what was interesting and unique about it, focusing on the three different entities (firefighters, paramedics and police). Then they shoved a new pain in the ass character down out throats and expected us to like her when they tried to focus the whole show on her. They may as well have renamed it CruzWatch. I’m not sad to see it go.
Actually, Doc was afraid the new boss would close the house, because he had been head of another station that closed. The 15 minutes was how long it would take a bus from the next nearest house to get to a shooting victim in their area.
