Oh Brother!
This weekend I started watching Corner Gas because I saw it mentioned earlier in this thread. It is very funny, IMHO. I couldn’t quit watching. I’m through the first two seasons already.
Big Train. Sketch comedy.
Technically it’s Canadian. More precisely it’s the funniest sitcom ever.
I should have picked up on that after the initial post identified it as Canadian, and I noticed that it takes place in the Saskatchewan and is made for CTV.
It is the funniest sitcom ever, with the possible exception of Trailer Park Boys.
All Reginald Perrins, with Leonard Rossiter and Martin Clunes.
YES. Goes well with Smack the Pony.
I don’t think these have been mentioned yet:
People Like Us - mocumentary with a hapless host
The High Life - Alan Cumming in a show about a Scottish airline
Posh Nosh - short but wonderful spoof of cooking shows
The Royle Family - subtle but hilarious in its own way
Rob Bryden’s Director’s Commentary was a short-lived series where Bryden pretended to be a director of films and television shows and gave a hilarious DVD-style running commentary to clips from real shows and films. A bit MST3K but very deadpan.
Great theme tune, too.
Some others not mentioned that I’ve liked in varying amounts.
Man to Man with Dean Learner.
Radio Active (radio) / KYTV (tv)
Touch Me, I’m Karen Taylor (hit and miss, but Karen herself not unappealing.)
The Thin Blue Line.
Beast.
