Personally I don’t see why religion should be treated differently from other “wacky” views. Besides, it sounds like you have no more respect for science than “they” have for religion.
I think you need to rethink… everything. Are you sure “they” are being nasty to you at all? It sounds like you’re assuming a lot.
No more so than other soldiers were sacrificed, though. I don’t know if that’s what you were implying or not, but the popular image of Gallipoli does seem to be Anzacs being sent to their deaths by cold British commanders as if that wasn’t what happened to all nationalities involved throughout the war. There were twice as many British deaths in that campaign, for example.
There were quite a few more French deaths as well. Predominantly though, the Australians were led by their own Commanders (apart from Birdwood who was British). However, at the 2nd Battle of Krithia the clown Hunter-Weston did sacrifice a lot of (Australian) troops unnecessarily. He was responsible for far more British deaths overall though.
I’ve never considered Gallipoli to be the Lions led by donkeys thing though. Certainly the planning was poor in the extreme but I believe there are far greater examples of needless slaughter (such as Fromelles).
