British Telecom & the 1471 option

Just found this out.

If you use the 1471 option to find who called you while you were out and then press “3” to return the call you not only get charged for the call but you also get charged 7.5p for the service.

Furthermore, even if you are not connected they still charge you the 7.5p.

So I dial 1471, see who has called and them call them on my internet phone, I do not use option “3”

I have an internet phone, 2p per minute anywhere in the world at any time, so I’ve hardly been using my BT phone to make calls, since the end of my last bill, February, I’ve only clocked up 84p.

I checked online today and I’ve been charged 25p for a service that I haven’t bloody used. Only 25p you may say, but it’s my 25p and I’m not giving it to BT for fuck all.

I e-mailed them and they will refund it after I get my next bill but I have to call them or e-mail them to get it refunded

Bastards

Dad?! Is that you?!

“13p?! Who’s been calling Luton?! Who the bloody hell do we know in Luton?! Right! Nobody leaves this bastard house until i find out who called bloody Luton for 2.4 minutes last Thursday night!”

:stuck_out_tongue:

It isn’t the 25p it’s the principle behind it.

Multiply that amount by the number of BT customers and you have a tidy sum.

And you’d get charged for 3 minutes not 2.4

I know - you just gave me flashbacks to when i lived at home.

Although apparently its the Sky Plus Box/Hard Drive Recorders that are the thing for dads to get annoyed about these days.

“2%?! Who used 2% of the memory?! I’ve only got 98% left now!”

etc… etc…
