I used to live in Scotland, and we used to say minging meaning disgusting or horrible (“do you like my new shoes?” “Naw, thur minging”, and to ming meant to smell bad … “that aftershave mings”
I noticed that manky seems to be common to both Scotland and Ireland with the same meaning (filthy - as in “that dog’s manky!” [dog having rolled in cow shite])
