Given that (as per expectations) both the speech and the response were easily-forgotten nothingburgers that conveyed no news, I wonder if the networks regret their choice.

For those who missed it, there was a fundraising email sent out before and after the speech. The pitch was the money would go toward The Wall, but the fine print confirms the proceeds will instead go to the Republican Party and Trump’s campaign/legal defense fund.
But wait! There’s MORE! He very literally used The Office of the Presidency for his own personal financial gain. Fucking brazen!
Hate the guy, why not? He’s conniving and slimy, and he’d rob his own mother for his ends–even if he had to buy his own shovel (cuz she’s dead, see?). But there is SO much we have to learn from him simply as a case study in criminology. Fucking astounding.

Well, no, but that’s exactly my point. MOST people, even not nice ones, wouldn’t hold up a bank because they consider themselves too smart to do something that stupid. Trump has just demonstrated, once again, it’s only stupid to not do it. You and me? We look ahead to potential consequences of our actions, and that’s part of what orients our moral compass. Trump has been doing this sort of thing for over half a century and so far the worst thing that’s happened to him is he’s been made POTUS. Sure sure, there’s a chance he might swill some polonium tea before Muller gets around to bringing charges (which also won’t happen-Muller’s the Republican in charge of the smoke and mirrors, but that’s another thread), but the odds are Trump will go to his grave a free [del]man[/del] sociopath. My jocular assessment of the event is simply my ability to admire the talent, if not the art. Same way I process Prince or Melville or Seurat–I don’t find their work appealing, but I recognize they did it well.

Yeah, I’m not a champion of that kind of talk either. Doom on them, and point taken. Good and bad on both sides, etc. I didn’t mean to imply douchery was absent from the left, or facts from the right. But still, my impression is if you seek lookism & bravado gems, you look right. If you seek braids of verifiable facts, you look left.

Left brain hemisphere focuses on processing analytical thought, numbers, logic, etc. Right brain hemisphere processes feelings, imagination, artsy stuff, abstract thoughts. The corpus callosum literally and figuratively sits between them, joining them, facilitating communication between them. If you cut the cc down the middle, you eliminate that communication and much comedy (and fewer epileptic seizures) ensues. What I see in the USA, politically, is left and right running amok, untempered by each other and so focused on what each wants that they no longer even know how to communicate–the opposition is an adversary rather than the other HALF of a crucial organ.
Trump has had multiple chances to compromise. Instead, he repeatedly shits all over the Resolute Desk instead.
Negotiating with someone who has repeatedly shown himself to act in bad faith is a fool’s errand.
