Broadchurch with David Tennant--I don't dare look

It rhymes with Milngavie.

Or “cow” and “now”, in truth.

Tennant plays a creepy, psycho stalker in Secret Smile, although I’m not sure which is creepier – his character in the show or some of Doctor Who fangirls who gushed over how sexy his character is

Broadchurch E1 - very watchable. Seems a conventional whodunit atm but one step at a time for ITV …

intelligence, acting and production values are way above the usual ITV drama dross.

Main diff to a good BBC series is it’s obv. only 45-46 minutes a pop …

Tennant’s really good when he gets the right stuff to work with. As I’ve said on here before, I had the privilege of seeing him onstage in London with Jim Broadbent well before all of the Doctor Who buzz.

Broadchurch hasn’t really grabbed us so far. The sister is just. so. awful. I can’t help but think of Vicky Pollard trading her baby for a Westlife CD.

My husband thinks all the pounding and crying is overwrought, and every time a new character is introduced, he announces what he thinks they did.

After E2 the only stand out aspect of it for me is the acting. Otherwise - so far - it looks like a conventional standard template whodunit. Hopefully some art will emerge.

Finding the cast really excellent.

At least the BBC’s Mayday was challenging.
