Oblio and Arrow: I’m so glad you’re both okay. I was offline for a bit, but kept thinking about both of you yesterday.
Michelle has posted so many heartbreaking accounts of people who abuse or frankly don’t care about animals. Maybe if you’re over the shakes right now you could face looking back on some of them.
The accident was just that: an accident. What matters is you returned Arrow’s love and loyalty. You did everything possible to make sure a loved companion got the best care possible. BTW, “everything possible” doesn’t mean perfect first time; it means not stopping until Arrow got to a doc.
I’m glad, so glad, that Arrow will be okay. Accidents and bodily failures happen, but the love and support afterward are what counts.
Arrow didn’t choose wrong when he adopted you into his pack.
A quick update on FrankenLab for those who are curious.
Arrow had a checkup on Monday. The vet was pleased with his progress but is reserved in his prognosis. There was some bone damage and the possibility of additional tissue loss due to lack of blood flow is a possibility. The vet removed some necrotic tissue, and there has been some more that has been removed since the checkup. The swelling is continuing to subside and there is no overt sign of infection. Arrow is still a bit lethargic, which is to be expected, but his spirits seem to pick up a bit more each day.
Sorry to hear about the vet’s “reserved prognosis”. I wonder if he’s considered leeches to improve the blood flow? It seems to work well enough on humans.
