Broken Heel - Mend Time?

My SO has broken her heel on an assault course.
I’ve checked the internet on heal times and all I get is what the doctor said 8-12 weeks.

We’re going on holiday in 8 weeks so I was wondering if any dopers have had a similar injury and in what condition they were in after 8 weeks.

The heel bone is slightly shattered but does not require an operation.

Surely somebody else out there has been unlucky enough to break their heel?

Well, not a heel, but a bone in my neck. Doctor told me it takes a minimum of six weeks for bone to heal. There are things that will slow it down (like re-injuring it), but just about nothing will make it mend faster. My experience was that at just about the predicted time, it stopped hurting.
