I’ve had a few. I lived across the street from Burbank Studio. The apartments were set up from short term stays. Garret Morris was my neighbor down the hall. Rick Springfield lived in the next building I Nina Simone was after my husband. She was doing a show at the Roxy, and needed some jewelry. My husband took her to a Rodeo Drive jeweler in his ancient Dodge van. She was high, When they got to the store, the salesman was a fan so kept the store open for her. As she walked in, a butcher knife fell out of her sleeve. Everyone ignored it and the store lent her $40,000 worth of jewelry. We had ring side seats at the concert.
Also, I was in an AT&T commercial. It ran for 3+ years, And I made $42,000 over that time. I had no idea I’d be getting that much. I figured every check was the last, so why not spend it. I pissed it all away!.
Oh! The biggest one… I dated Jose Feliciano on & off for 3 years.
I stood on stage with the Red Headed Stranger, Willie Nelson, one time. We had all access passes to a big country festival in Columbia, SC back in the late 80’s. Dottie West took a couple of us on her bus and gave us snacks and drinks. I kept waiting to see if George Jones would invite us on his bus where the good stuff was. He never came out of his bus.
Shook hands with all of the Statler Brothers and Barbara Mandrell back in the early 80’s at their annual show in Staunton, VA.
Oh, and my latest near brush with near fame was drinking a beer with Ray Romano’s brother-in-law at a bar in Columbia. Don’t know if that should count…
