I don’t know how much he had to begin with, but now he won’t have any, as he is parking his wagon firmly in the “I’m a great big loony” lot.
He’s hosting a show that… well here is the blurb:
*From the initial news of a “disk” being recovered in the desert to SCI FI’s latest “smoking gun” shocker to a landmark scientific excavation of the 1947 crash site in Roswell, N.M., this two-hour documentary offers the definitive account of what may be the most important event of the 20th century. SCI FI Channel reopens the case with a groundbreaking investigation, chronicled in a two-hour special that includes all-new eyewitness interviews, up-to-the minute revelations and never-before-seen footage. Working under top-secret conditions, archaeologists from the University of New Mexico, in partnership with SCI FI Channel, set out to uncover conclusive physical evidence to help prove whether the claim of an extraterrestrial craft crash is science fiction or science fact. *
Now I suppose that it could be that they are going to say “so you see, it isn’t really aliens after all” but at least the ads for it sure seem like it’s gonna be a big UFO-fest.
Because he believes in space aliens? Or will host a show about people who believe in space aliens?
Lets play with your snippet a bit:
From the initial news of a “Shroud” being recovered in the desert to Dr. Robert Schuller’s latest “smoking gun” shocker to a landmark scientific excavation of a burial box marked with with words “Jesus” in the middle-east, this two-hour documentary offers the definitive account of what may be the most important event of the 20th century. NBC reopens the case with a groundbreaking investigation, chronicled in a two-hour special that includes all-new eyewitness interviews, up-to-the minute revelations and never-before-seen footage. Working under top-secret conditions, archaeologists from the Vatican, in partnership with Al Sharpton, set out to uncover conclusive physical evidence to help prove whether the claim of Jesus and God is science fiction or science fact.
At least we know that people existed in that area at that time, and that they buried their dead. Also, the existance of Jesus (as a man and historical figure) is not that implausable. Discovering that the box is genuinely related to the Jesus mentioned in the Bible doesn’t actually prove or disprove, or even suggest, anything supernatural.
Aliens, on the other hand… yeah that loses credibility with me.
None. He might think he does, however. I saw an interview in the airport last week with Katie Couric, where she commented that he refers to himself in the third person, ala Bob Dole, OJ, and WWE wrestlers. As in “Bryant isn’t happy with his new chair. You don’t want to make Bryant unhappy…”
'Scuze the hijack, but are you referring to the burial ossuary? Was that proved to be a fake? Or are you just taking the opportunity to slam Christianity, in general?
And now, back to your regularly scheduled Gumbel-rant…
Actually, it looks like the box and the “Ja’akov, son of Yusef” part are genuine but the “brother of Yeshua” part was hacked on by a forger, at least according to this expert who, as far as I know, has not been disputed yet.
