A couple of my students today asked me if I’d ever been to Buc-ee’s, and said that I should totally drive to Dayton (from Cleveland, at least three hours away) to check it out. They seemed sincere (well, as sincere as teenagers ever get).
Hehe, at 17, I’d make the drive. At 20 or any point afterward, NOPE!. I’ve seen a truck stop. A really fancy one isn’t worth driving 30 minutes out of the way.
Don’t do it. As I’ve previously mentioned, I drive by the place in Huber Heights, OH twice a day (on Route 235 / Route 4). It’s just a big gas station with a big convenience store. There’s nothing unique or special about it, IMO.
Pretty much. An enormous gas station, with an inside that is a hybrid between (a) a convenience store, (b) the gift-shop front section of a Cracker Barrel, and (c) a mall food court (but with no place to sit).
Yeah, I told them that maybe I’d stop there if I was going down to King’s Island or something, but there’s no way that it’s justification for the trip all by itself.
When you live in the boonies, a Buc-ee’s is the biggest manmade thing you’ve ever laid eyes on. For some that’s a treat. The fact it’s filled with snacks and other food that’s bad for you is only a plus.
