I went to a pot-luck a couple of weeks ago, and someone brought this. It was really good, so I asked her for the recipe and have taken it to 2 parties since. Everyone loves it, and I’ve given out the recipe a lot, so I thought I’d share. It’s insanely easy and GOOD.
3 10-12 oz cans chicken
2 blocks cream cheese, softened
2 cups shredded cheddar
1 cup Ranch dressing
1 1/4 cup Texas Pete hot sauce
Preheat oven to 350.
Drain chicken and shred so there are no chunks. Mix together ranch dressing and hot sauce, and heat in a large saucepan. Add softened cream cheese and stir until cream cheese is melted and there are no chunks. Add cheddar and chicken and stir until smooth. Pour into baking dish (I grease the bottom with a little butter 1st). Bake for 30 minutes at 350.
Serve with celery sticks and crackers- Toppers are really good, they hold a lot of dip.
The color is a little odd while it’s in the saucepan, but it gets better when it’s baked.
Yes, a block is the 8-oz package. And any hot sauce or wing sauce will do. I haven’t tried it, but I wonder if blue cheese dressing or 1/2 c blue cheese and 1/2 c ranch would be good. I might try that next time…
Hmm. Sounds good. Do you think Blue Cheese dressing would work? I’m not a fan of ranch. Also, consider me educated. I never knew chicken came in a can.
OH SWEET. I had this at a baby shower about a month ago and I’ve been dying to get this recipe since, but I was stupidly waiting on the dad to send it to me. Thank you!!
I made this last night. OMG SO GOOD. I just boiled and shredded some chicken breasts (I’m not sure if I’ve ever even noticed canned chicken in the store!) and used blue cheese. I went easy on the Texas Pete, since I like things less spicy than my husband does, and he can always add more. The only problem was I halved the recipe and it wasn’t enough for both of us to have some tonight! Yummy.
