Buffy (New to the fenomenon)

Wow, you’re right, they are a lot older (3-7 yrs) than her on the whole, besides Amber. I knew that SMG was right around my age- I’m 4 days older- but I never looked up anyone else’s age before.

So are people around 30 playing 20 more or less warped than people in their early to mid 20s playing 18/19? Who’d of thought that Buffy would have a bigger age gap between the show and reality than Dawson’s Creek?

could I get a mod to clean up in isle 3? sorry about that…

As a 41 y.o. hetero male, I can certainly see this. Also, being bookish myself, rather than ‘spike-ish’ I like the idea

Ms. Gellar is very much not my type of fem in real life. Too short/petite. Too vapid and too athletic. Yet somehow… She really stirs those hormones for me. Yum.

Favorite characters, in order of attractiveness:
Willow, Giles, Buffy, Drusilla (yum!), Cordelia, rest of cast in no particular order.

God I love Willow.

Ahh… if I had my pick I’d definately take Tara (Amber Benson) - ofcouse the little problem with her being lesbian and I being male might take some of the fun away (Yes I do realise she might not have the same sexual preference in reality).

Buffy isn’t bad either - but imho she’s gotten too skinny. I still like my Buffy painting over my bed though - http://cze.dk/buffy.jpg to see

I second the yumminess that is Giles. He was my first “BTVS-crush” and will always have a special place in my heart. He’s right behind Spike.
Mmmmmmmm. Spike.

It’s my own thread. So I can do it. So there.

I checked out some recent shots of SMG at IMDB. Whoa! Yes. Too skinny. What is it with Hollywood that makes very attractive - and normally built - women get anorectic. She needs to put on about 10lbs. I saw some pics of Christina Ricci too. If people thought here head looked big (actually, it’s a very small chin) before, check outthis pic and compare with this.

Giles is my big crush, although Angel has certainly gotten better looking with age. Ok, Angel the character? Not aging much. The actor? Yes.

My name is Al, and I’m a Buffyholic. I’m also 26, a lesbian, and NOT attracted to Willow! Darla is by far the sexiest Buffy semi-reg, closely followed by Faith, with Cordelia bringing up the rear end (not literally, although that would be … what rating is this forum? ;P) I like Buffy as a character, but she’s just too skinny to do it for me. Is she taking the Callista Flockheart diet? However, she is a great actress (at least in Buffy - never seen her in anything else).

The Buffy fandom also attracts a lot of good fic writers. Some of it is still Mary Sueist crap, but some is high quality and really adds to the show.

Having just spent the weekend watching Season 1 & 2 I gotta agree SMG has lost a stack of weight. Perhaps she’s working to hard?

What happened to the short skirts and uber sexy kitten outfits of season 1 & 2?

Is she getting rid of her sexy skimpy outfits in the following series?
I’m waiting for them to drop in price then.

Buffy season 3 featured alot of what I term Jackie-O style outfits, very demure and classy. Dunno if it was part of the plot development with her character or to contrast her with other characters who were not so demure and classy.

I will never-in-a-million-years understand the cult-like following of this show.

Are you referring to the price of the clothes? Because you have no idea!

My assistant used to work at Fred Segal (those of you who read the watchers’ guide or popular entertainment magazines know the name) and in virtually every scene she makes some comment like: “How the hell is Xander supposed to be able to afford an $1,100 sweater?” “Damn, I always wanted that skirt, but I couldn’t afford it, it was $900” " I really liked that shirt, and it wasn’t too expensive, only $230 or so." None of which is news to me since one of my best friends is vice-president of Fred Segal and I tease him mercilessly about the incredibly ridiculous prices of the clothes.

I was just wondering the other day how Buffy et al would look if they dressed at the level they can actually afford? Pretty sad, really… (although I have to say that I don’t think it can get much worse than the first season… what was with the minis and gogo boots? Yak.)

Because Lola, it’s well-written, original, funny, and can be enjoyed on several levels. You want mindless escapism? You got it. You want to spend hours researching myths and stories and apply it to Spike and Buffy’s relationship? Got it. Want to care deeply about characters? Well, you’ll be hard pressed to find more rounded or deeper characters on TV.

And Spike is hot.

That’s okay – it’ll take me at least twice as long to understand the pathological need to post in a thread about how you just don’t understand the topic’s popularity.

Erf…you’re kidding right?

He was cute in the first season, but now…he’s just WAY too beefy.

No, I’m not kidding. He looked like a baby in the first season. I much prefer the beef-ier Angel.

To each their own, I suppose.

Yeah, I’m a recently converted Buffyholic. And its all your fault, too. The Buffyphiles of the SDMB, that is. I had practically no interest in the show, but after reading all you folks raving about it, I had to check it out and see what all the fuss was about. Now I’m hooked. I’ve got the first two DVD sets, and I can’t wait for the third!

Damn you people!

No, wait…I mean thank you!
