So, instead of starting a new thread, I thought I’d bump this one up, since it’s not that old.
I just finished watching season 6 (ok, so what else am I going to do with the weekend in a town where I still don’t know anyone? Well, I shopped too.)
To my surprise, after the discussions in the season 5 thread, I didn’t dislike Season 6. Sure, it was dark as hell, but it seemed to fit. The nerds were obnoxious - but they fit too. In the episode where Riley shows up (and I hated that he showed up - I hated him that much in seasons 4 and 5), there’s a comment made about “boys with toys”, and that just was appropriate, given what was going on with the nerds all season.
Evil Willow…well, she irritated me. Maybe it was because I knew her redemption was coming, but I wanted to roll my eyes at her.
Tara’s death - I knew it was coming, but I didn’t think it was going to be like that…I expected something much less violent, and at the same time something much more violent. Willow killing Warren was ooky.
Buffy and Spike? I’m not sure what I think of that. In some ways, I think Spike had the right of Buffy - she is a creature of the darkness. That doesn’t forgive the attempted rape, but Spike’s got Dawn telling him that Buffy was hurt when she saw he and Anya on the camera - he’s in love and convinced that she just won’t admit it to her or him. With Dawn’s comments and Buffy’s comment at the wedding (I think that was when Buffy said it), that it hurt to see him there with someone else, even if it didn’t change things between them, well, I think he’s right about it. (yes, that was a poorly written sentence).
But, I had the only experience that made me gag during Buffy. The episode where she goes to work at the DoubleMeat Palace (great name, I thought) and Willow sends the old lady demon through the grinder…yeah, that wasn’t pleasant.
Anyway, now I’m looking forward to the release of season 7 next month.
