Bugs Bunny- greatest baseball player ever.

This in-depth post from a blog amused me. It’s an in-depth look at Friz Freling’s 1946 cartoon Baseball Bugs, written as if Bugs was a real person and the game in question was an actual event. Very funny stuff. A tribute to this fine baseball player, the only man in history who was able to strike out three players with a single pitch. That’s what the man said, you know he said it…

I read that the other day.

I just want to know how Bugs got his knuckler to flutter for that long.

He may be the only “man” who did it, but Bobo the Elephant not only matched that feat on the mound, he scored a game winning inside-the-park home run using only his trunk.

Sure, baseball purists have for decades denigrated the achievements of this amazing player, but to all the nay-sayers i simply reply, there’s nothing in the rulebook that says an elephant can’t pitch.

Look at the scoreboard-
What did Bugs Bunny do?
Bugs with the Carrot League
Baseball today.

“Watch me paste this pathetic palooka with a powerful paralyzing perfect pachyderms percussion pitch.”

The score: Bugs Bunny 96, Brooklyn Bums 95.

How coule there be any doubt that Bugs was the greatest ever?

I’m especially impressed that they advertised Filboid Studge at the stadium.

Oratory Jujitsu - band name!

He juiced, man!
Carrot juice, but still!

But surely the greatest baseballere of all time was Sidd Finch.

Yes, that’s all well and good, but as far as I know, Bugs was the only man- I mean, rabbit- to play every position on a single team, at the same time.

I would rate Bugs Bunny about even with Babe Ruth, but ahead of Willie Mays, Ty Cobb, and Ted Williams. Bugs created about 9.04 runs per game (using the Runs Created method) and about 37.18 WS/162, bith a bit below Ruth and closer to Mays/Cobb, but his defensive value was much higher than Ruth, which isn’t well reflected in EqA but I estimate to be worth 30-35 runs per season.

After all, the wascally wabbit played all nine positions!
