Buh bye Rumsfeld. Seymour Hersh is takin' you down!

When they attack unspecified “assertions” and claim numerous unspecified “factual errors”, that’s practically an admission that the gist of the story is correct.

Whether Runsfeld is personally resposible or not I applaud the actions that were in the story cited by the OP.

When will some you realize that we are dealing with people who, were you to meet them on the street, would CUT YOUR HEAD OFF!!!

Just for being you. Just because you exist is reason enough for them to kill you. You could be the nicest person in the world. You could have been just doing your job. They don’t care. They will CUT YOUR THROAT!!! Or blow up a train. Or fly planes into buildings.

Oh my!! Some Iraqi’s were made to get naked. They were made to stay awake or squat. Oh my!! The horrors. We must be the evil ones.

Well, bite my shiny metal ass.

Frankly I think that people who are so delusional as to not even acknowledge a very direct threat to their existance, but also seek out ways to blame themselves or those trying to protect them and turn THEM into the monster need serious psychological help.

Seriously.

According to Red Cross and US Military reports, 70-90% of them were arrested by mistake. I’d like to se your evidence that any of the abused were terrorists, much less *all of them.

Some were murdered. Some were raped. Some were beaten. A twelve year old girl was tortured. Get the facts before you spout off.

How was Iraq a threat to our existence?

How does torturing 12 year old girls alleviate the threat?

Are you really as fucking stupid as your post?

I didn’t know “protecting” ourselves meant…

dare I say it?

turning ourselves into…

Nazis!

All that aside.

This is America. We don’t do that kind of stuff…remember?

We don’t lower ourselves to their level.

Wow! I remember a time when America stood for the rule of law and the right to due process. Instead we now live in a time of collective guilt and pre-emptive punishment against those who might wish to do us harm sometime in the future (or then again might not, but we better kill 'em all anyway, just in case.) Seriously.

Yeah, we’re really going to win hearts and minds by resorting to the same lawless thuggery as Saddam’s regime.

Good show, Bushco.

To add to my previous post:

What possible good can we expect to gain by fucking with some other part of the world, when the rest of the world is against our chosen form of fuckery?

Unless some piece of diplomatic brilliance intervenes, I see no good end to this mess.

Well, everyone’s already tried to tell the hysterical JamesCarroll that the people in these prisons were not terrorists, largely prisoners swept up by mistake … but what the hell, I’ll pile on.

Clearly you speak from experience. Is that what happened to you?

Fly planes into buildings? Fly planes into buildings? Why – why – that sounds like a 9-11 reference, doesn’t it? But it couldn’t be, since we all know the nationalities of the 9-11 terrorists, most of whom were from our good ally Saudi Arabia, and a whopping total of zilch were from Iraq.

Okay, so then which plane-flying-into Iraqis are you talking about?

tick

BUZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

Not surprised you didn’t get it. It was in fact a trick question – Iraqis have never flown planes into U.S. buildings, nor yet bombed our trains!

Next time maybe you should do some research instead of being led by the nose by the Drudge Report. While you’re at it, go take some refresher courses on how to be a human being, you creepy little psychopath.

There’s more to it than that. Remember that the “worst” is yet to be made public. Don’t forget the dead body on ice and the reactions of those who’ve seen all of the photos. Senator Graham used the words “rape and murder.”
Rape and murder are neither laudable nor ignorable.
That you would applaud rape and murder is disgusting.
You’re truly a sick fuck in need of “serious psychological help,” you liberal.

As Diogenes pointed out, that’s not nearly all they were made to do.

But here’s a note on sleep deprivation:

Sleep deprivation is a very effective mode of torture. It was used extensively during the Inquisition and other witch hunts. Many of the accused could stand tortures like the rack, the strappado, or the Spanish boot without confessing to anything; but it was the fact that they were not allowed to sleep that made them confess to things that they did not do, and implicate people that weren’t involved in non-existant activities.

So not only is it inhumane, it’s not even a particularly good way to gather intelligence.

Cites? If you have them I will review them. But it seems to me if people were being murdered and 12 year olds were being raped then someone, oh I dunno like CNN or Congress, would have at least made mention.

Ah, yes the “Nazi” arguement. Always a winner. Let me see if I remember how this goes:

You make assertion.
I disagree.
You call me a Nazi.

You win! How could I possibly respond to such a well thought out and rational argument?

You know, I was in Newark, DE one night in my youth, leaving a basketball tournament, and I was accosted by another young white male. Being a bit of a rambunctious lad m’self, I took to the throwing of fists as a means of expressing my distaste for this gentleman’s behavior. As it happened, this particular young white male was traveling in a bit of a pack- a gaggle of honkies, if you will (gaggle…geese… honk… get it?).

Perhaps it will not surprise you to hear that I was beaten rather badly on that occasion, being outnumbered five young white males to one. I found out later that my adversaries, like myself, were outsiders- not from Newark, DE, you understand. They were from a high school neighboring my high school- perhaps you’re familiar with the Kennett Square area, as it is not so far away.

Thinking back, I suppose that, since I was in Newark, and since I was wronged by a young white male, I could have looked into convincing the police to round up all the white males in Newark. After all, I’m almost the nicest person in the world. These Newark whites are the type of people who, if you had just met them on the street, would PUNCH YOUR FACE OFF!!!

I didn’t, though, and now I regret it. Newark whites were a direct threat to my very existence- to all God-fearing folks’ existence. Don’t know why I didn’t try to get those whites locked up. Delusional, I guess. Blaming myself for being there, and all that. Makes a good story, though.

Oh, yes, let’s give the American voting public, which often votes for candidates simply because they can remember their names (and nothing else) playing cards with pictures of the guys we DON’T want elected.

“Counterproductive” is the word … wait we’re in the Pit … fucking stupid!

Well, you know sometimes someones just hates you. Why can’t you acknowledge that? And even if we indulged their “tit for tat” mentality, these folks are STILL pissed off about the Crusades that happened 500 years ago. AND THEY WON!!!

For crying out loud, when do we shake off the haze of self indulgent/self hating history and address the reality of the world that we live in?

Shit happens. That’s history. The future is up to us to move on and build a world that is free and folks can just get along.

Is that the world that the Islamist terrorists are promoting? No, they would rather die then alllow that. Hence, you have the current “insurgency”.

That is what the current battle in Iraq is for.

Why won’t you open your eyes and mind and see that?

it’s been “mentioned” repeatedly, fuckwit. Read the fucking news. Or do you live in a cave somewhere?

James, there were reports made by the Red Cross as early as January of this year regarding prisoner abuses. The International Red Cross, however, likes to go through channels, as they find they get better results that way.

The abuse, however, wasn’t even a blip on our national radar until the pictures surfaced. Now, Bushco is struggling mightily to cover their asses, because it makes them look bad. Election year, y’know?

No matter how you slice it, we (as represented by Bushco) fucked up royally.

GWB is the Commander in Chief.

It doesn’t matter if underlings allowed this to happen without his knowledge. It happened on his watch.

The International Red Cross, as I’ve said, complained to the Bush Administration about treatment of Iraqi detainees as early as January of this year. No outcry from the Administration.

Pictures show up in the press. Plenty of public and Administration outcry.

Figure it out. Seriously, do your fucking homework.

I have no doubt that many in the Middle East are nothing more than fucking savages. That being said, I have met many in the US that are no more than fucking savages as well.

While I won’t go so far as to state that Bushco is nothing more than a band of fucking savages, I will state that they are being way less than honest and honorable in their dealings with the American people and the rest of the world. Nothing new, unfortunately.

And as far as your demand for cites go: Why don’t you do your own homework, hmm?

Sorry but racism isn’t a concern of mine. Nor is it a concern of the war on terror.

When has any administration official said “We are fighting the Iraqi’s?” We are fighting FOR the Iraqi’s so that they can enjoy the same democracy that we, unfortunately, seem to take for granted.

Your analogy is weak and I dismiss it.

Well, then give a cite. A nice big fat juicy link to a reputable news organization that supports your position.
Besides the “poet-genius-artist” at your suburban Starbucks, of course.

I don’t know if you deluded or just hopelessly naive. We are not fighting FOR the Iraqis. We are fighting for the business interests of the US. Our leaders could give a shit about the Iraqi people, and they are not going to get “the democracy that we seem to take for granted”. What they will get is US rule through a puppet government, hand picked by the US. And even that will take years.
