My Son is an Honors Student
(Too bad the engineers for this shuttle weren’t)
I listened to the broadcast on the radio all day at work last Saturday. Humor is how I deal with everything.

When John Glenn went up in the Shuttle several years ago, and was still in orbit, someone posted to a mailing list just before landing, “Hey! Let’s all wear ape suits!!”
It got a big laugh from all over the list membership (well, for those of us who caught the joke), except one. That poster offered only one comment and I distinctly remember it:
“We don’t laugh until the Bird is down.”
The poster left his name and location, too:
XXXXX
Marshall Space Flight Center
This led to another round of posts with someone complaining that they were from Glenn’s hometown and the family doesn’t like such humor. This caused another round of debate until someone finally popped up saying they knew Glenn and his family personally, have known them for years, and that the original joke posted to the list was great!
Oh, sorry. Carry on.
If you think take off’s a blast…
Perhaps the most “appropriate” bumper sticker, without even any alteration…
“Honk if parts fall off!”
Ranchoth
(So, since I’m going straight to Hell for posting this, anyone have any messages for the devil they want delivered?)
Well, I gotta admit I didn’t get it. At risk of ruining it, can you explain the joke?
It’s a reference to Planet of the Apes, when Charlton Heston comes back to Earth that is dominated by apes (although the remake had the ending of the original novel–the astronaut comes back to the same era he left to find it dominated by apes.)
Ahh yes. Thanks gobear.
“My engineer can beat up your honor student.”
“ACME ROCKET COMPANY”
“You are now free to move about the atmosphere.”
“Better engineering than Chrysler.”
I’ve gotta respect the folks at NASA. Any mistakes I make only cost money.
NASA: Not Another Shuttle Accident
so so sorry, but giggling whilst feeling guilty
What goes up must come down…unless it explodes first.
It’s raining men…
Well, not the same era, as the protagionist did fly to and from Beatlegeuse, about a 2000 year roundtrip, but yeah, the same area in France.
Hey, that gives “cheese-eating surrender monkeys” a whole new meaning!
