Are there home burglar alarms that also record the times and dates that various things occur, such as arming and disarming and the detection circuit being opened and closed? Is there a special term to describe these? Who makes or sells them?
I already have a hardwired system, but I want it to be able to record. I wouldn’t mind replacing the whole control panel. We have computer network components near the present control panel, including a switch and hardwired ethernet, and some of the computers on our network run 24/7, if that helps.
What you’re after is called system event logging. A lot of the newer systems seem to be offering it - there’s one that I’ve seen ads for locally that has a smartphone app that can ping you when someone arms or disarms the system, and you can also arm and disarm the system remotely.
Alarm companies are notoriously weird to deal with - about all I can suggest is starting with your current provider’s website and looking to see if they offer smartphone control - if they do, chances are good that they’ve got a panel that will do what you want.
