I have several clips on my home PC, shot with my digital8 camera of my kids playing around.
If I burn them to a DVD (either in raw Mpeg format or as a burned movie with Windows Movie Maker) would my Xbox 360 be able to play them?
We don’t have a DVD player, as the 360 is our primary disc player.
If it won’t do it, I may have to just go get myself a cheapo DVD player. Darn it.
Home burnt DVD should work.
You can also just copy your file onto a usb memory stick and plug it into the 360.
The official Xbox 360 say you can use MPEG 2 & 4, but I’ve never got them to work right, WMV seems to be more reliable (use the MS Windows Media Encoder).
You can use a network cable, Orb video streamer, and a bit of jiggery pokery to stream movies from your computer, but it’ll probably be easier to burn a dvd.
Excellent! Thank you so much!
Xbox 360’s can act as media extenders on windows Vista machines. All you have to do is hook it up to your wired or wireless network, then go to your vista machine and run media center, after setting that up you can add the XBOX 360 as an extender. You’ll then have access to any wmv and mpg files you make available through the media center app.
