Landlord Victorious in Peeps Trial

Defendant argued that she had been evicted from her apartment unfairly because of the Peeps Easter display on her door, while the landlord argued that she had been evicted for failure to pay the rent.

As for the “art” claim, [landlord’s attorney] suggested that “one person’s artwork is another person’s mess.” The rest of that day was devoted to the apartment manager’s testimony, during which [tenant’s attorney] moved that a box of yellow Peeps be admitted into evidence. “I have no objection to the Peeps,” [landlord’s attorney] said, after inspecting them.
