Well, okay, so I set the microwave oven for 15 minutes instead of 5, and after the smoke was billowing out- perhaps 7 minutes in- I realized I had a SITUATION on my hands.
The house smells like burned popcorn. I cannot open up the doors, I’ll let in West Nile Virus carrying Skeeters.
How do YOU get the acrid scent of burned popcorn out of your domicile? I must know.

Got cinnamon and cloves? Put a good handful in a big pot of boiling water, and let it steep open all night. Muy swell for getting rid of odors, unless’n you don’t like cinnamon and cloves…
When I was stationed in SoFlo they repainted the enclosed, indoor ladderwells with latex paint, which smells bad enough. THEN someone walked through the ladderwell with burned popcorn - that made it even worse. THEN, to top off all that, a few circuit boards on a Mod40 teletype fried, so that was hauled up the ladderwell.
I took the back stairs for a week.
Anyhow, to answer your question: Vinegar and water, about half and half. Gets rid of fish smell, too.

As for the more --ahem–SUPPORTIVE Dopers out there, this is where I’m at, ok? How’m I doing so far?
1 lb cinnamon sticks, 1 lb. whole cloves. HUGE spaghetti pot. Simmering nicely. No lid. No exhaust fan.
Took week killer pumper from garage, filled it with half white vinegar, half boiling water. Pumped that sucker up, sprayed down walls in kitchen, dining room and living room before The Wifestrocity caught ‘wind’ of what I was doing, and went after me with a rolling pin.
Opened box of baking soda, started to pour it into a glass bowl. Tripped over pumper filled with vinegar and hot water, baking soda mixed with vinegar.
I’m currently using the laptop owned by the County Haz-Mat Team. There was quite an explosion due to the boiling water, vinegar and baking soda. There are bits of cloves and cinnamon shards stuck in my chest and arms. The nice Paramedic wants me to sign off now so I can go get treated, but as a die-hard Doper I felt honor-bound to post in here first.
I just hope you people are happy. Any more helpful hints???
