Bush Campaign More Thought Out Than Iraq War

From the Onion

Although quite funny, it also seems quite true. If so, what does that say about W?
My first guess: he’s an egotistical bastard that cares much more about getting himself re-elected than about national security.

I’m curious what people who plan to vote for Bush think of the fact that the post-war strategy and planning in Iraq were so bad, but the campaign strategy is being almost flawlessly executed? (Of course, they may dispute that the post-war planning was bad  )

I already asked, and received very, very few replies.

But as to pre-war plannig for the post=-war period, there was a plenty of it. The Bush Admin just decided to more or less wing it instead.
There was a huge effort by the State Dept called the Future of Iraq Project that was to be the guidelines for handling post war Iraq. It was scrapped by the Pentagon. Jay Garner asked for the head of the FIP to alowed on to his team. No go.

Looks like the same is happening here.

I’ve found tha there are certain issues and situations that are genuine conversation stoppers. This is one. Another is the corruption and criminal behavior amongst Bush’s advisors.

There’re just too many fnords in them or something.

For example:

Rogue Element On the Loose in the Pentagon

DIA says Iran used INC to get US in Iraq?

Put an End to the Well-Founded Rumors Surrounding GWB Admin’s Use of Intel re Iraq?

Pentagon Office of Special Plans (OSP): What’s the Deal?

Do Israel’s Interests Have Undue Influence on US Foreign Policy? (esp re NeoCons)

Well, it’s no big surprise this doesn’t generate much conversation… I don’t think there’s a reader left on these boards who hasn’t come to realize what a disaster the Iraq follow-up “plan” was, if we can call a hybrid of inept blundering and irresponsible winging a “plan”.

Bush’s campaign is strong and cogent because he has some serious firepower on his communications team, and he can certainly afford it. Perhaps he should ask his PR generals to lay out the strategy for war in the future, and save us all the headache of the administration’s ineptitude… or he could let the professionals do their job and sack morons like Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, and in fact most of his staff.

Personally, I’ve come to the conclusion that Americans are just a hell of a lot easier to fool than Iraqis are.
