Bush- "Dems' win help terrorists"

All over the news today. GWB stated that a victory for a Democratic party candidate is a victory for terrorism.

"President Bush said terrorists will win if Democrats win and impose their policies on Iraq, as he and Vice President Cheney escalated their rhetoric yesterday in an effort to turn out Republican voters in next week’s midterm elections.

“GEORGE W.Bush sharpened the rhetoric on Democrats and their stance on the Iraq war yesterday, claiming that the “terrorists win and America loses” if Republicans ceded ground in the mid-term elections as the race for control of the US Congress entered its final week.”

Umm, Mr President? A democratic and fairly run election being held- no matter who wins- means that the Terrorists have lost.

**I know we don’t have many Bush supporters here, but can any of them come here and still stand up for GWB after this last statement? ** I have even defended GWB myself on these boards against the worst of the extremeist attacks on him. But this last is too much.

Oddly here:

"In June, U.S. intelligence also learned from an intercepted al-Qaeda communiqué that bin Laden’s terrorist band wants to keep U.S. soldiers bogged down in Iraq as the best way to maintain and expand al-Qaeda’s influence.

“Prolonging the war is in our interest,” wrote “Atiyah,” one of bin Laden’s top lieutenants.

Atiyah’s letter and other internal al-Qaeda communications reveal that one of the group’s biggest worries has been that a prompt U.S. military withdrawal might expose how fragile al-Qaeda’s position is in Iraq and cause many young jihadists to lay down their guns and go home. [See below]

But a Republican victory in the Nov. 7 congressional elections almost certainly would end that concern. A GOP-controlled Congress would continue to give Bush a blank check, meaning the Iraq War would be prolonged and, quite possibly, expanded into other Middle East countries."

This Intel seems to show the opposite- if the Dem’s win, al-Qaeda becomes unhappy.

Next week he’ll say he never said it. But it’s nice of Bush to come forward and speak this crap himself, instead of having Cheney do it. I wonder if Republican candidates wish he’d shut up.

Well, more proof that you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. We heard this speach two years ago.

Yeah, he’s playing the “Gay Marriage” card, too.

Desparation, plain and simple. It ain’t gonna work.

Uh, weren’t they just saying Democrats don’t have a plan for Iraq? Which is it??

Democrats have policies for Iraq, but not a plan. The policy, of course, is abject surrender and turning over our daughters for virgin squads to reward jihadist terrorists.

So, how is it, exactly, that he can get away with saying something as vile as this and then the next breath start shitting all over Kerry for “dissing the troops”? And would he blow Mark Foley in Macy’s window at high noon to keep control of the Congress? Twice?

You can dis your political opponents, but you can’t dis the troops. And he probably wasn’t dissing the troops anyway.

The trouble is when he spouts crap like that, the only ones who don’t roll their eyes in disgust are the ones whose votes he could already count on. As long as he has a foot, he has a target to shoot.

You promise?

I think the idea is to get them to the polls to vote.

Depends on your definition of “work”. He’s going to lose one House in Congress, at least. No guarantees on two.

This is 100% rally the base rhetoric. Rove is really afraid that the base is demoralized and will not pour out to vote like they did in '04. Kerry thought he’d win if he could just get enough people out to vote. He met his goals, but Bush got even more people out. Things are quite different this time.

I’m shocked, shocked, I tell you, to discover that Democrats apparently want the the US to be defeated by terrorists. I know they don’t have in any sort of platform statement, but that’s just what I’d expect from those lying liars anyway. Thank our Lord God that we have Mr. Bush around to expose these traitors. The scales have truly fallen from my eyes. Or vice-versa.

"Croupier: Your winnings, sir. "

garsh. Best I vote REpublican then, good thing some one told me this.

Because the Right in America is simply held to a far lower standard than the Left. Clinton lies about a blowjob, and it’s a act of utter evil and gets him impeached; Bush lies to get us into war and who knows how many other ways, and faces no consequences.

Sex is a lot dirtier than violence and bloodshed in the American mind. You’d know this if you watched some TV. Heads being cut off and people exploding and being wracked by bullets is fine, but a nipple is a serious threat to the children…

IOKIARDI. Duh.

Bush: “That’s all I gotta do? No problem!”

Don’t you get it?! That’s what they want us to think! That communique was planted!

Sadly, you are exactly right. There’s waay too much of the Old West mentality left in the US and when that’s combined with the large segment of religious nuts in the poulation who live The Truth – as in “eye for an eye” – of the OT, you have…well, you have what you have now.

Likely the most violent of all developed nations on earth.

Guess it’s still cool to be a gunslinger – an image I gave up at eleven or twelve.
