Looking for a straight-forward answer here. I’m on the John Kerry campaign e-mail list, and today they’re pushing for donations to top Bush’s campaign for the 4th consecutive month, and the last FEC filing before the conventions. Here’s an excerpt:
What’s a Pioneer and/or Ranger? I’m guessing it’s some sort of giving designation given to top donors on the Bush/Cheney campaign trail. Or it’s some foreign word that Cahill came up with to fire up the Dems.
Any insight out there?

I couldn’t find any info on the site describing what they are, but a friend of mine got hit up for the max allowable donation by a Ranger. Basically they are private fundraisers, who solicit donations from friends, acquaintances, business associates, etc. The more money you raise for W, the higher your classification. I think Ranger is the highest.
On the plus side, my friend got a lovely autographed picture of W and Laura.
